Valuable Lesson I Learned

There is this saying that, The Only Place Where Success Comes Before Work Is In The Dictionary. Welcome to my blog. I'm here to participate for the first time in this weekly prompt 16 on realtalk that says What Is The Most Valuable Thing You Learned From Your Parents Or Guardian.

One of the most valuableb things I learned from my parents especially my mother is the true meaning of hard work and honesty. My Mom is a woman who holds these values in the highest esteem. Growing up in a poor background, she never allowed our circumstances to limit us. Instead, she showed us through her own life that dedication and integrity can carry you through even the toughest times.

She was an independent woman who refused to wait on anyone not even her husband my daddy to give her the life she wanted for herself and we her children. She worked tirelessly and honestly, no matter how difficult things were. She did all kinds of businesses, she worked as a tailor, she learned how to make bar soap and she was teaching people and also selling her produced, she fried beans cake and Yam, she sold clothes, she farmed, she sold anything she could just to keep us going and we helped her sell many of the things she produced. I remember watching her juggle all these trades so that we can survive.

Through it all, she constantly reminded us that whatever we chose to do, we must do it with honesty and with all our strength. Those words have lingered in my ears and shaped the person I am today.

Now that I have my family, I carry these values with me. Although I never wished a hard life on my children, I have made sure to pass down the lesson my mother taught me. WORK HARD FOR WHAT YOU WANT AND BE HONEST IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.

These values have become a part of me, guiding my decisions, my character, and the kind of parent I strive hard to be. And for that, I will always be grateful.
