The Lord travels today
To meet his devotees across religions and caste - travel is very much necessary.
Today is the world famous Ratha Yatra or Car Festival or Chariot Festival, the oldest and largest Hindu festival on which millions of devotees throng to Puri, to meet his beloved Lord Jagannath , as he steps out of his temple to meet devotees across caste and religion. After taking bathe with 108 pots of ritually purified water on Deva Snana Purnima, the Lords fall sick and given treatment in a closed sick room, during which devotees cannot meet him. And then after recovery, he along with brother and sister, travel to his aunt's house, to meet his devotes in open where everyone can seek his blessings.
Our rituals are so much connected to our life and lifestyle - travel refreshes everyone and the Lord travels once in a year, to rejuvenate, giving his devotees a chance at the same time. This is why, we should consider traveling at least once in a year. Life is all about living and we should take time out from our busy schedule and rejuvenate ourselves.
We have a Jagannath temple nearby and the Chariot festival is getting popular attracting more crowd every year. It certainly gives a strong message to the society - spiritual healing and mental peace is only attainable by connecting the dots with the divine, we can only do our Karma with honesty and all good intentions without hurting anyone - leaving the rest to the almighty. Many foreigners have started believing in our rituals and culture - recently Steve Job's wife came to India during the Maha Kumbh Mela to fulfill his last wish. Science and Technology can't explain many things that has answers in our rituals.
It was good to see many youngsters coming and attaining the festival.
A small chariot prepared and being pulled by kids on the occasion.
Artists performing their skills in honor for the God, recognizing his authority.
Another small chariot run by kids.
The lady this time decided to join the festival here.
A cute chariot, almost not visible.
The loud bell fills the ambience with devotion.
The rope to pull the chariot and that big manual wood break to stop it.
Another beautifully decorated chariot.
Some people earn their livelihood in these occasions, attracting kids.
A broken hand did not deter him to come and join the festival.
A tiny video clip to let you feel the ambience.
If you want to see the live ambience in Puri, then have a look at this video :

Wow, from the video the whole place was filled up with people. Happy chariot festival day sir 🙏
Great post, while I don't quite understand the Lord water purification and other details around that, I was still able to understand the general sense of good and positivity in this event from the post. Love the pictures as well, they provide a lot of visual context to the story.
The videos are something else, the short one was interesting and the live feed on really provides a view on the true scale of this event!
I always include relevant wiki links for that reason, it needs a little extra time to go through them to understand. First there is a bathe festival, and then the Lord falls sick in fever because of that - like us. Then he is treated in a closed room - again like us, as we don't go out or meet anyone when we fall sick. And once recovered, he travels to meet the world.
Hope it gives a little context. The short one is where we participated, the live feed is from Puri, where millions of people have gathered to meet the Lord.
This is all new to me and very interesting. I have not seen anything like this before. I will go through the Wiki links to read up a bit more about this as I like to learn.
Well celebrated people with their way of life that's there way of worship

It's a good idea, my friend, that your culture allows you to travel to places where you feel wonderful and at the same time you can be in contact with nature.
Life is about living it and renewal, key words that we sometimes forget that not everything can be work, much less the stress generated in our daily lives. We have to look to disconnect and recharge our batteries to achieve a fuller life.
That Car Festival is great, my friend. Your publication is also very complete. Virtually no one missed it. It shows how important their culture and their Gods are to everyone. You have to travel to escape the routine and, as you say, renew yourself.
My eyes get wet, and tears roll down my cheeks when I see Lord Jagannath.
Jagannath Culture started in the 12th-14th century, and it started a new epoch in Odisha in terms of culture, where divinity transcends social barriers.
India is a land of spirituality. Lord Jagannath is the living God. Jagannath culture and the Car festival are a universal appeal of such traditions, prompting reflection on their timeless relevance.
Thank you.
Jai Jagannath.

You are right that we should travel once a year, it is good for refreshment and enjoyment. Life is short so we should live it to the fullest.
