Palm Fruit - the natural medicine for summer

Nature has its own medicines

Ever seen and tasted this fruit ? Most people know about palm candy, but they don't know how the palm fruit looks like or tastes like. This is another gift from nature, that comes only in summer, to keep us cool from inside, by staying hydrated during hot weather. And not only it's delicious, but a very good source of nutrients, several vitamins and minerals ( you can google around it). I love this fruit for its rich fiber content, the water inside tasting very sweet.

So far we have failed to develop a plant in our native, and buy them when these vendors bring from villages. They give three of these in fifty rupees, which seems a bit expensive, but then blame inflation for that - they also need to earn a living. Mom says, these plants are natural absorbers of lightening, and that is why, people in villages plant them in the outskirts of the village, to safeguard them.

20250504_133253.jpg

They even have varieties - these big black ones are more matured with a little hard content inside.

But in comparison, if you pick these small white ones, they are soft like butter. I keep bringing them as long as they are available this month and teach kids its benefits. They don't like it like pizza or burgers, but I keep doing my duty, telling them that they should at least eat them for their health benefits like a medicine. If you don't treat food as your medicine, then some day medicine will be your food and that won't be far away.

They will start ripening towards the end of the summer and the aroma of ripened palm is very unique - people use them to make cakes by mixing them in batter. Long back I ate them in a village, and since then I have a desire to do it once at our home, because I know that will be loved by kids. This year, I have already told the lady to research on that and may be we will get a ripened one from market and prepare the cakes.

One other great product of this comes out by putting the ripen ones under soil for a year - next year, it gives us soft cakes inside, that's very very tasty. May be I will try to put couple this year and see how it goes. Nature knows what is best for us and gives them in abundance, we need to educate ourselves and utilize them - thankfully my boy listens to everything and will carry forward my legacy.

Pizza I never did get the hang of. Burgers well we eat beef, so have burgers but often without the bread and just a way to eat meat.

At first I thought it was coconut because to an extent that's how they look before they peel off the back.

You are right sir, nature has provided us with everything we need we just need to utilize them

I use to complain a lot about the price of things that are naturally grown and being sold till I study inflation into details. I had to end up with the same conclusion, the sellers also need to earn a living

No, your post isn't fine! We're just recommending that when people describe a flower, fruit, an animal, or something medicinal or ecological, they add a bibliographic reference to differentiate us from a photo community. Hugs.

I'm sending this to you so you understand our point: https://peakd.com/hive-174680/@hive-174680/guidelines-for-posting-in-our-community-read-before-posting You should only include a bibliographic reference if you extracted scientific information from your post.

So we should only post content that includes scientific information ?

In reality, since your post has a medicinal focus, you just need to go to the Internet and add a reference that supports what you write and that's it.

I didn't know about the existence of that fruit, but the truth is that nature always offers us many opportunities to improve our health and, in some cases, prevent diseases

That is very true, my friend. Nature knows what is best for us, in addition to providing us with everything we need to move forward. It is also excellent that you teach your children all this so that, as you said, they can continue with your legacy.

I have seen palm sugar before but I have not had the opportunity to eat it. It is very rich in vitamins, those who have the opportunity to eat it are very lucky.

It is absolutely true that people who eat fruit daily are less likely to get sick and they contain many special things that keep our bodies perfect.

Growing up in the Philippines, we also enjoy palm fruits during summer! We call them “buko” or sometimes “kaong” when preserved, not sure if it’s the same variety, but it brings back childhood memories. Nature really gives us these perfect treats for the hot season.

There are palms bearing fruit in the park close to our home, however, I'm not sure if they're edible. Looks like dates actually.
