Pahalgam, Kashmir
The village of the shepherds is often known as "Mini Switzerland" of India.
Pahalgam, the village of the shepherds is located in the Anantnag district of Kashmir and is around 100 km away from Srinagar, involving a scenic 3 hours drive through Awantipura Ruins, Saffron Fields and Cricket Bat Factories. Recently, it was in global news because of the horrible terror attack on April 22 killing 25 tourists and a local, which has given a crushing blow to Kashmir's tourism sector.
We visited the place as part of our Kashmir tour, and interestingly, we had to hire a local taxi from this taxi stand, after reaching there, which did not resonate with me, but our driver said, they have a very strong union and won't allow outside vehicles.
And what came next was a heart thrilling ride - the guy was driving at 100km speed in the valley and I had to stop him - look, safety is our first priority and we have not come here to enjoy your ride.
This is the place, where we were left by the driver and there is no road from here to Baisaran meadow, where the unfortunate incidence happened. The local tour operators were behind us to go to Baisaran meadow using horse ride, but I was not comfortable as we saw another accident involving a person failing from the horse ride and breaking his back.
Even kids were not very interested, so we decided to stay and spend some time at this place and return.
As we were roaming in this big field and enjoying the scenic nature, a person came with his parrots offering his service, to use his white parrots for photography. He initially quoted a hire amount but finally agreed to take 150 rupees for one hour and we utilized his service to the fullest.
She wanted to do a reel here, but then few shots did not work well, so we gave up the idea.
Spending half an hour more, we decided to say good bye to the Mini Switzerland, capturing few more last pics.

All of your pictures are beautiful and no doubt we have a Mini Switzerland in the form of Pahalgam. I was very young when I visited Kashmir, the place is so beautiful that one does not get tired seeing it.
It is good that you got the chance to visit there with your family. What can be more beautiful than spending time with family at such a beautiful location. My son is 2 years old and I also plan to visit Kashmir soon.
Those birds looks beautiful and I can see how your kids as well as your wife was able to hold them in their hands, were they comfortable handling the birds.
Also the recent terror attack was truly heartbreaking and it's sad to see how such incidents deeply affect tourism and the lives of locals. While the tourism might get recovered with time, the families who lost their loved ones might not recover from the loss they faced. May god give them strength and protect our nation from such attacks always.
Thank You

truly it feels like heaven, unfortunately, religion and people make it a mess.
It looks like those parrots were trained because normally, they could have flown away
I love family trips and I do that a lot too. You’ve got a happy family and I wish you all the best
Yes, those parrots are trained for sure, thank you.

An incredible place, that mini Switzerland, my friend. Also, what a shame about that attack, I imagine it must have greatly affected the presence of tourists. And as for horseback riding, you have to be very careful and avoid accidents like the one that happened.
Kashmir is one of the places on my travel list, someday.
Yes, must have on list.
Incredible place, my friend, with the natural beauty of its mountains. It's also great to rent the white parrots to take home a nice souvenir. It was very well said when they managed to get the driver to reduce the speed, as they say, safety comes first.
Those final photographs of mini Switzerland are incredible. Seeing the mountain peaks covered in snow is amazing. Plus, being able to share it with the whole family makes it even more amazing.
परिवार के साथ पहलगांव हो या मनाली सबकुछ खूबसूरत हो जाता है। शानदार जगह और शानदार दृश्य।

It's really beautiful view. In truth, this place is no less than Switzerland. There are green fields, big mountains, and cool air. Going to such a place puts a person in a happy mood.
