January Garden Journal - Beyond expectation

I managed to give only few hours, even from hospital.

DSC05229.JPG

This year, everything has gone against the plan, starting from this season because I spent a lot of time in the Hospital. First Dad got admitted, then my father-in-law and then my mother had to go under knife on the new year itself. I always reciprocate my feelings with the plants and I know they do, they probably understood my situation and mange to flourish even without as much care as I should have taken in my presence.

This big inca variety was a new addition to my garden for the very first time and look at their size and coverage on the plant.

They certainly were beyond my expectation.

The boy nicely took charge to water them regularly every day but I know he cannot take care of spraying the insecticides / fungicide, because I have not taught that to him yet. To give me comfort, he was telling me that he can try, but I said NO and took couple of hours of break from hospital once Mom was a bit stable. Like us plants do need food / nutrients in regular intervals and apart from Jeevamrutha, I have been using organic seaweed and fish fertilizers to feed them. Preparing Jeevamrutha is a time consuming task spanning over three days, so organic seaweed and fish fertilizers is a quick answer. My usual schedule is to provide a weekly meal to them and spray some fungicide , but this time that did not happen. Instead they were left to manage themselves for more time and I could feed them only after couple of weeks. Probably they would have done better, if things were as planned, but they still did not disappoint.

The buds in the Chrysanthemum plants are taking longer to grow and flower, probably because of lack of regular meal, but they are coming up.

I know they won't stay long because the season is going to end soon, but I am glad that there is going to be a happy ending, irrespective of so many challenges. Many people are coming and taking photographs thanking me for growing a beautiful garden inside the society premises - after all who does not love flowers!!

Hopefully we will have flowers all over the Chrysanthemum plants soon and you will see that in my next journal, just today, the boy and me tied the branches to protect them as they are getting heavier.

And before I wrap, here are the plants that we have in the other side of the park, taken care by the society.

Even though I volunteered to guide them and worked myself, they certainly were not taken care well in my absence. People are still happy, because they saw flowers in that side of the park after seven years.

Very very nice flowers! We have inca too here but yours are definitely big... Even if you don't have much time plants are good with you and indeed need nutrients

It looks like they managed quite well without you! I expect the amount of preparation you put in ahead of time was a big factor in that! Nicely done!

Wow! These flowers are so adorable. I remember when you started the garden last year and the challenges you faced along the way as well as a woman who stole one without knowing there was a CCTV watching her and what people were saying in your whatsapp group which you shared the incident with.

I am happy to see how far you have gone with this. I wish I live close by to get like four and put in my compound.
I wish your family members who were admitted to the hospital quick recovery.

Yes, it certainly is beyond my expectation, the plants probably understood my situation and reciprocated. This year I have put a board on CCTV, which is fun, may be will post on that :) Thank you for your wishes, they help a lot.

The plants understood perfectly that he cared for them with all the love he gave them and that he wasn't away from them because he wanted to be, but because of illness. The end of one year and the beginning of another were complicated, my friend, in terms of health, but the important thing is to move forward.

They divided the society's facilities in two, one part you were in charge of and the other for the rest of the people. Undoubtedly, and despite all the challenges you faced, the chrysanthemum flowers are beautiful, my friend. Excellent work you did, and although they weren't as successful, seeing flowers after a considerable time on the other side makes me think it was also successful. Perhaps with more continued support in the coming years and greater experience from those involved, even better flowers will come.

The flowers are beautiful! I think the amount of care that you gave them enabled them to cope for the brief period that you couldn't do as much due to caring for your family. I hope your parents and father in law are okay now?
