How much is a year of your life worth ?

For him every day counts....

DSC07884.JPG

Every time I come home, Dad is very happy, because he can have food of his choice frequently, especially non-veg. He expects me to bring mutton curry from a hotel near my house which is very famous, and I do that every time. He does not have any other interest except eating tasty food, and we have been pushing him to move as much as he can, which he is very reluctant to do. The other thing that is interesting for him is to sleep - he sleeps 2-3 hours in the day and then around 10-11 hours in the night - Mom and me always wonder, how he can sleep for such long hours. But probably that is the secret of his energy - I slept like that probably three decades back.

DSC07892.JPG

He does not have any interest to go to places, unless absolutely needed for financial cause, like giving the life certificate once in a year, which usually should happen in the November - December time frame. Last November, he as well as me forgot about that and his pension was stopped, and we even didn't realize that because nobody looks at his account on a regular basis. It's only after somebody from the bank called us, we came to know and one of my close friend helped us by taking him to the bank and do the needful. Next time, we will have to watchful, but that is when, this question came to discussion between our friends - How much is a year of your life worth ?

DSC07871.JPG

Did it ever came in your mind and you asked yourself ? Do you evaluate it in terms of how much you can earn or financial context or do you evaluate in terms of quality of life ? It can be so complicated as well as so simple based on how you measure the worth, isn't it ?

DSC07872.JPG

Some people rarely stop to ask this question to themselves, some never ask it, Dad belong to the later category - I have never asked that to myself until this discussion came up but now I am evaluating it for myself, about which I will write later.

DSC07878.JPG

For Dad, the value was always evaluated in terms of joy as far as I have seen, as he never worried about anything else. And for us, a year of his life is priceless - every day matters. His joy is always in simple things like eating and sleeping, and unfortunately, his water intake is now restricted and nobody knows what's ahead. So I decided to shoot the first reel of Dad as I am in my native and it took some time to find out a proper track to match and come up with the final outcome :

Let me know, if you like it or it could have been done better. When I showed this to Dad, he was delighted - everyone in this world probably loves to look at his nice part. Spending time with them as much as I can and seeing them happy is probably the biggest joy for a kid, as we will be always for them.

Before I wrap, few more snaps I captured - this post will be a golden addition to my memoir on this chain. I will try to create more and more reels on Dad....I am sure, later, everyone will love to see these.

All I can understand is that uncle believes in living in the present and cherishes every moment by keeping it simple. I believe this is the key that many of us have forgotten to follow. I like his way of simplicity and making life joyful

Hello dear friend @sanjeevm, good morning.

It's great that your father sleeps many hours a day; it's undoubtedly his source of energy.

You are blessed to have your father in the health he's in. Our parents' lives are truly priceless, and every day with their presence is a blessing.

Beautiful video, I loved the editing.

Have a beautiful Sunday, dear friend.

A big hug to your father.

he sleeps 2-3 hours in the day and then around 10-11 hours in the night - Mom and me always wonder

That's good. A good amount of sleep and socializing are the best pills for overall well-being. I wish him good health.

Do you evaluate it in terms of how much you can earn or financial context or do you evaluate in terms of quality of life ?

It's actually both, subject to time, situation, age, and circumstances. We spend our health for financial gain during the peak of our health and then spend money for good health in post 50s and 60s. But in any case, contentment is key. Our inner happiness is a must.

Spending time with them as much as I can and seeing them happy is probably the biggest joy for a kid, as we will be always for them.

For sure. These are precious moments. "Mausa" looks good and handsome in this attire. I wish him good health.

Thank you.

There’s something really special about the way food becomes a source of joy as we get older. Your dad’s happiness over a good meal says more than words ever could

I love how your dad sleeps for longer time
Aged people like him barely sleep for longer time but since he can do it, it’s a good thing to know

This is brilliant to see you doing this Sanjeev. I am sure it is also bringing you both closer and making your mother and wife happy too. It is also great capturing things for the future so you can look and remember these times.

Better said, my friend, every second of life counts and enjoying doing the things we like is the best thing we can get because everything can change in an instant, hence we should always be grateful for the joy of living.

So he has to be a friend for another year with our parents, it's something that can't be measured, that is to say that monetarily we don't know its value because it's incalculable, that's the truth and very possibly the reason why he has a lot of energy is that he eats well and rests even better.

There is no doubt, my friend, that your father has good interests: eating well and being very tasty, as well as sleeping several hours a day, almost 15. For me, your father learned to live and, after a certain age, only enjoys the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

It's the first time that I got to see your dad in your post. I already saw about your mom. I hope your dad is okay. Sleeping in long hours is rare for people in his age.

Although I don't know you personally but I have read many of your posts and I feel I can say that you were lucky to have a dad like yours and your dad is lucky to have a son like you.

My father is 84 years old and even though he is being treated for cancer he has great fortitude and a smile that is always available and his life teaching gives me the strength to smile even when there are difficulties.

Every minute of life is precious and spending time with your loved ones and trying to make them happy is the best way to live.

I like your posts because they convey the important values of life, and love for family is a priceless value

A big hug and I wish the best to your father and your family.
