Emu Birds Park

The Emu did not listen to pose for a photograph

DSC06621.JPG

Coming back from Lover's Point, we had one last stop at the Emu Birds Park. But before that I saw lots of turmeric piled up at a road side with a very small cottage. Turmeric from Daringbadi is famous for its authenticity, so we thought, we would bring some as it would be cheap at the source.

DSC06596.JPG

These tribal people do not use any fertilizer and use natural resources, so the quality and smell of these turmeric is unmatched. But there was no one around, so I called loudly and a lady accompanying a small kid came out along with two other kids.

DSC06597.JPG

I asked, if they would sell these turmeric and she firmly denied saying we can take few free, but these are not for sale, as they sale it in bulk. I did not like to bring for free, so I just picked couple of them, to differentiate between what we get locally. But I was touched by her generosity, they are not rich, but they still offer it for free.

DSC06600.JPG

And these people make their own bricks as you can see. For them necessity is the only driving force to work, not abundance, and they definitely sleep better than us.

DSC06601.JPG

Driving back around 5 miles, the Emu Birds Park was visible on the main road.

Kids were excited to go and discover the Emu for the first time. Looking at the entrance, we thought, they are kept in a large enclosure, as we heard, these birds can run at a speed of 30 miles per hour.

DSC06607.JPG

But what we discovered that only 5 birds were available and kept inside a small enclosure and they were not looking very healthy as well.

One of them was more fond of people and was coming close. Some people had taken peanuts to feed them and kids wanted to feed them as well, but nothing was available nearby. The snacks that we had was not suitable for them.

DSC06606.JPG

Spending half an hour, we decided to leave from here, starting the very long drive back to home. On our way back, Eco Retreat was visible from the road, and we decided to stop for a minute.

ON the right, this lovely spot drew the attention of the lady as she was searching a place to do a reel.

20240115_134253.jpg

So we all stepped out and climbed to the top and the crew successfully did the shootings.

DSC06664.JPG

And from here I made them promise not stop anywhere else, as we were getting late, and I had to drive even though rest all can relax.

20240115_150953.jpg

But on the way, I could not resist stopping after seeing these fresh vegetables on a village road side. And believe me, the price was one third of what we get here and they were farm fresh. So we packed as much as we could, with no more space left over.

20240115_154750.jpg

When we left from Eco Retreat a driver had recommended to keep an eye for this fresh sugarcane juice, that would come just after a bridge, where a very tall idol of Lord Hanuman stands.

IMG20240115145403.jpg

Since then, the kid had it in his mind and was vigilant to watch all bridge, and finally we found it(was so much fun). We drank half liter each and packed couple of liters - the recommendation was pretty good. Unfortunately we had heated arguments with a local politician over me parking the vehicle on the left, some people just try to create mesh out of anything. In the interest of time, we preferred not to complicate it.

After driving 4 hours at a stretch, they wanted to eat something and this road side shop was pretty good to offer them a lot at very competitive price. That sweet is made of Black Gram, unique to the locality, and we loved it. I always wonder, how they manage to offer at half price than cities, and still be profitable.

Buying products locally is cheaper since it doesn't have expenses of transportation and it's no chemicals added. It's better to buy from them than the displayed products in the store.

So sad to read about the health condition of the emu. I hope they will try to resolve your observation. 😊

I think, the park was initially big but has failed to maintain over the time, with many birds dying. Government funding would have been done then.

It's sounds like you had an amazing time out there. Despite the Emu Park's mixed experience, the generosity of the local lady and the fresh roadside finds really made your travel a memorable one. Plus, your pictures re so beautiful and clean. Thanks for sharing your experience man..

Yes, that was how I bought some fresh vegetables and lots of stuff from the farmers last weekend at a very cheaper rate on my way back from office assignment compared to what we get in the city.
I love how you always take your family out for outting at your leisure.

The Emus don´t look happy indeed, they need much bigger space and better care. What are the owners keeping them for? Tourist attraction? The hospitality of the poor locals who let you take their products for free, on the other hand, is really amazing and heart warming. Did you give them any money anyway? :)

Did you give them any money anyway? :)

I called them to come near me and they ran away :) They seems to be scared of outside people. However during our trip, another kid was asking for some help standing on the road and the kids gave him lot of snacks and he was so happy...

First time I've heard about the Emu but it must be a strong bird to run at that incredible speed of 30 miles, definitely a fairly complete ride with multiple options to see

a good mountain of turmeric I can already imagine the smell they give off must be incredible the EMU is a bird that I am hearing for the first time, perhaps that is why it is protected like this and is in danger of extinction

Yeah, those Emus look a bit thin and unhealthy. I have read a lot of zoos and places that use animals for attraction usually don't take care of the animals well. It's nice that you got a great deal on the vegetables. I would have done the same thing and bought as much as I could. I'll only worry how to eat them all afterwards.

But I was touched by her generosity, they are not rich, but they still offer it for free.

Exactly Sir. They are very innocent. Generous even when you are not affluent.....that's the biggest trait of Human values.

For them necessity is the only driving force to work, not abundance, and they definitely sleep better than us.

Living close to Nature always shapes our philosophy of life that way.

I had to drive even though rest all can relax.

ha ha ha ......I can understand....😀

I always wonder, how they manage to offer at half price than cities, and still be profitable.

Because the city, service component is always inflated.

It was really a nice tour you had, I am sure it must have been a pure rejuvenating experience.

Thank you.

You have quite an adventure there. Being inspired by your post, now I miss long travels already 😜 I saw a video recently that Emu (in India) are not meant to be consumed as food, however the eggs can be eaten (pls correct me if I’m wrong about that).

By the way, I’m deeply touched by the generosity and humility of the lady. Omg, how I wish that we (humankind) will be as kind as her. The world will be a different place if so.

Thanks for sharing your trip. I enjoyed reading and viewing the photos as well.
