Personal System works more than Motivation
Motivation is nice but does not always get the job done because there will be days when you feel down and not yourself, so what happens on days like that? How do you handle the feeling of not being so motivated at all to do anything? This is where a personal system comes in handy. Personal system involves having a perfectly outlined schedule of what needs to be done and when you have to get it done. This way you see it as an obligation and not just something you have to do only when you are motivated. It is like your job, you do it when you are motivated and when you are not motivated.

This cuts across all fields, from finance down to personal activities and scheduling of what to do for the day. There are always so many things that need to be done, and over time we get to see that 24 hours in a day no longer becomes enough for us to get the job done. This happens especially when you are one who is a high goal getter aiming to achieve certain things before a certain time or age. The world is super busy with what we need to do and what we do not need to do and it becomes super helpful when we start to outline these things. It gives a proper clarity on what we actually need to do and what might just be a waste of our time or something that could be done later since it is not urgent.
In the life we live, personal systems are relevant in protecting us from burnouts. These burnouts are very easy to come by when we over work ourselves without any form of rest. We keep running over and over until the body can no longer take it, so we break down faster than we thought we would. Honestly speaking, even if you are the most fit person or most successful, your body is not a machine and in the end, it is just a body, so it needs rest. Little things done over a period of time can become powerful than you think. Have you ever wondered why whenever you want to gain a skill or learn something new like a new language, you are always advised to master the basics. You start off with a new language, first, they teach you the orthograhy, which is the writing of the language, like the simple alphabets, letters and things like that. This taught over a long period of time, builds the rudiment for using big words and constructing long sentences.
We all started off with the alphabet when learning English in school, then moved on to other things. This is what it is like building a peronal system. Start with the simple things repeated over time. Be consistent with it and overtime you see yourself exploring bigger things faster than you expected. A house was not built in a day, they started off with the foundation, then blocks laid on top one another and moving on to others things. This is how it starts and done over a period of time. Whatever it is you want to do or plan on doing, build a system around it and watch how you grow over time.

This is a really solid piece. I like how you pointed out that motivation is unreliable, but a system keeps you going even when you don’t feel like it. The examples about learning a language and building a house made it very relatable. It’s true that small consistent actions over time can lead to big growth. This is a good reminder to focus on discipline and structure, not just feelings.
Thanks for dropping by.
I totally agree, motivation is fleeting, but a solid personal system is your unbreakable backbone. Spot on with the job analogy; it turns "I feel like it" into "This is non-negotiable."
Here's my take, building on your points:Personal systems shine brightest in micro-habits stacked daily.Break tasks into 5-15 minute slots (e.g, quick Hive curation or Actifit steps).
To dodge burnout, bake in rest as ritual. Schedule non-negotiable downtime, like a 7 PM shutdown (no screens, just Highlife tunes or Arsenal highlights 😂).
Track weekly with a simple score: Did I hit 80% of my system? Adjust ruthlessly.Your language learning example nails it:
Consistency compounds. Rome wasn't built in a day,but with blocks laid daily, you're unstoppable.
Exactly. But it's never easy but the right mindset is all it takes
Spot on 👍
its as if you realize my state of mind and had to put this up, this is all I needed to rebounce ...
currently demotivated and uncomfortable but there is peace and rest just hearing this from someone else really helps, .. the truth is I'm self motivated but recently its been so hard for me.
thankyou @samostically
It's a really important advice to prevent burnout. What's your personal system to make the most of your day?
I can’t share all but I try to work out, read a book via audio most times, stream chess on TikTok a bit & write one or two articles.
This are the ones that are definitely happening everyday no matter what.
