Book Review: The Alchemist [Eng/Esp]

" Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure." - Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

The above quote is from the book titled The Alchemist, which talks about the dream of a Spanish boy who wants to get treasure from the Egyptian pyramids. It brings a quest of getting treasure, but soon turns into a spiritual journey. The quote tells that the finding of one's purpose begins from within and not the pursuit of external pursuits.

The young Spanish boy named Santiago goes on a quest for gold by first taking the bold step of selling off his sheep to gain capital. A bold move of a determined person. The quest does not entirely become about the gold, but more about the wisdom and growth gained along the journey of finding this gold. The author, Paulo Coelho, uses this story to show that the heart knows what it needs to be happy if we listen. Instead of getting overwhelmed by the fear that looms in our hearts, the doubt ringing in our heads, or the busy world reminding us of what we have and what we do not have.

With the ever-growing comparison matrix in the world. Showcasing glam, status, and glow all over the internet, leaving the resounding question in one's head, What am I doing with my life, or what have I achieved so far? This comparison matrix can leave one looking out for what they have that others do not, or better still, how I am better than the next person. Thereby shutting out the ear from listening to the heart to know what it actually wants to keep the body going. The form of true happiness comes from what puts a smile on one's face while doing it. It could be writing, creating creative content with friends, helping others, or maybe like me, playing chess. That joy cannot be overlooked, no matter how hard you may try to avoid or deny it.

The practicality of making spirituality in this book easy to understand is a strong strength in the book. I cannot deny that I found some form of relation to the persona, Santiago, in the book, from the challenges he faced in his journey. This makes it obvious that the journey would not be a smooth one, but you have to trust the process. Trust that it will lead somewhere or at least to something. Then admire the zeal to take an actionable step. Action speaks volumes; however, you may want to look at it, but you need to take action. It is not all about the big idea but about taking the actionable step, no matter how small to may be.

The entity of the quote speaks to where your heart is as the center focus. You need to pay more attention to what the heart wants and what puts that smile on your face. You know it deep down. It does not feel like grumbling where you have to do it just to get by or just to foot the bill. There is joy that comes from it, but remember, you have to put in the work. How you handle pressure and challenges will determine how far you will go in achieving what you seek. Nothing comes easy if you ask me. Everything has a price to pay, so does the joy and happiness you desire. Are you willing to put in the work to get it? That is entirely up to you.

Does this book have a pdf format? would love to give it a read. My friend one time wrote about how the heart doesn't just pump blood but serves as a power house where our energies align with our innermost desires. I bet this would be a very interesting read.

The form of true happiness comes from what puts a smile on one's face while doing it.

You're definitely right. True happiness can come from the littlest acts that might seem insignificant in the eyes of many. But I strongly believe that, as long as it brightens up that sad face out there, it's more significant than gold and silver.

You're right totally right. True happiness come from little things that seems worthless from the face of many people.

Just as I'm reading it the book sounds interesting. If I want to read the full book where can I get it?

Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure

I have read this same quote several times in the scripture ...even God encourages us to put our heart in what we desire ..
To be happy or achieve whatever we want lies within us👌

A dose of morning motivation it is ..
