A lesson from MJ Demarco's The Millionaire Fastlane

It is high time I spoke about another lesson from Demarco's book, The Millionaire Fastlane. Previously, I have shared a review of the book where I spoke about the book in general, but this time around, I decided to share specific lessons from the book with you all through a highlighted quote, as I always do with my book review posts.

“The secret to wealth is simple: Unsexy, boring, monotonous, routine behavior.”

The idea behind the quote has to be shared because I am sharing it will be worth your while. The quote centers on the notion that people may have about the concept of miny. Thinking it is something that will come fast, and building it will be an easy journey for anyone who decides to embark on that journey. It is not a rosy one that is for sure, and we do not know the precise point at which it may come about, only that we pray for it and stay optimistic about it. I can not say for other but I know through a couple of business stories I have read about and videos I have watched. It never started great. The journey to where they are at any given time requires patience and, above all, dedication. The zeal to stay dedicated to a particular business or that idea you have in mind, despite the difficulties you may face while doing so, is nothing short of admirable.

In the past, I discovered that Amazon and Facebook one of the biggest companies currently, did not turn a profit for a long time, especially during their early stages of the business. Now imagine if they had given up on those stages, or the founders, Jeff and Mark, had given up on the idea back then. Surely they could not see the future, which later turned out to be a successful company. This kind of zeal is what I am talking about in a founder or business owner.

Another idea from the concept of the book is that people mostly think that fastlane businesses like startups, and internet businesses revolving around content are all flashy and reckless, while they are not. A business can become boring when the time comes to implement those ideas into action. It is no longer about the big talk. I have an idea to build this for this. What have you done? Where is your track record of what you have done? Especially when it comes to things that have not been done before.

Anybody can have an idea, but that does not make it a business. The real work starts when they put in the action. This is when you start to realize it is not as flashy or easy as you thought. Now you are dealing with managing people, keeping track of inventory, following up with orders, and giving the business a structure. Something that you did not see coming. All of a sudden, the whole idea has become a serious job. I remember seeing a post that said an employee only works 9-5, but a business owner works around the clock. You see the difference.

In the end, it boils down to consistency despite the setbacks, like what MJ Demarco refers to as routine behaviour. Being consistent and making the business a part of your routine behaviour can be a recipe for success.

I love that u used Amazon and Facebook as an example here, cos I have also heard about their early beginning and how it wasn't so rosy for them but today, it's all a story of the past. I started a new bussiness in October and so far , i have been working around the clock with so many ups and downs that hv tested my patience , but in everything , being consistent and making the business a part of my routine behaviour can yield result at the long run, I believe

Valuable review btw👍
