1000 Followers on Hive - A Personal Reflection
I joined Hive in 2018 and I have talked about that story so many times and I will also share this on the flame, how I connected from the former chain to Hive.
Recently I realized that I hit a thousand followers and it made me ask myself this question:
Do I really have a thousand followers on Hive?
Just like that what reflects on Hive also reflects in the real world. It's not everybody who has been following you that are actually active in our lives. Some have come and others have gone. We can't take out the fact that people are not active in our lives in the way we expect them to be, which is normal to take the losses and keep moving and I for one have been one to do so.
Right from playing chess way back on the former chain, I amassed several followers who are no longer active. For instance @anomymee, @bitsignal,@ropavejero, and @perpz who are no longer active. Even back then we had several chess players playing Steem chess but now they do not play HiveChess.
You can check the link for more if you are interested:
The same also goes for the fact that new players have also joined the HiveChess Tournament.
Just like @anonymee who happens to be my friend residing in the United States, when I asked him about his chances of coming back to Hive, he told me he has misplaced his keys, meaning he can't find his way back to Hive. So it makes sense that there are people who follow me but they can no longer be active on Hive like they used to be.
Some like anonymee may have lost their keys, others posted one or two posts on Hive after the fork but now they are no longer active. From the link above, you will see several chess players who used to play in the chess tournament but now they do not play Hive Chess.
In my research into my followers, I ended up messaging a former chain supporter who is still active on Hive but apparently does not play our chess tournaments anymore. I sent a message to @the01crow checking up on him and to see if he still plays chess like we used to back in the day and also to tell him about the HiveChess Tournament if he's even interested in coming back to play.
The whole point of writing my first post in the Flame community is to reflect on life in general. How people who follow you are not actually following but you are too busy to see that these people are no longer active in the way you thought they were.
Social media, web2, and Hive web3 only count the people who click the follow button which could be mistaken for friendship but deep down that is not what it truly means. Deep down there are a lot of things going on in their life you know nothing about so when they become inactive you fail to see it. Some people that know me outside Hive are even less concerned about my personal life and health but are quick to worry about my online image.
Also, there will be people who will give you a second chance or more while there will be people who will not. That's just life. The ball keeps rolling no matter what happens and you have to keep going as long as your soul is still alive. Some friendships do last while others do not. This goes to say that you have to put your soul and mind into understanding that people who are your friends today might not be there tomorrow and be appreciative for the support you get from the ones that are still present.
Gratitude for the support
Even after leaving Hive and coming back, they are still people who have been supportive of the value I bring and my initiatives.
In my research for this post, I came across @stayoutoftherz 7 years ago congratulating to me on winning a tournament on the previous chain. Back then I didn't know much about the chain and I was still a university student. Aside playing chess then, I tried to hunt for Utopian upvotes by submitting or finding Bugs on Open source applications and reporting them to earn. now I see and appreciate the support. He has been a major supporter of the value I bring even when I made mistakes, He stood by me. Another person is @edicted, who doesn't just follow me on Hive but follows my personal life, help me with Jobs and is one person I'm not tired of ranting to.

I can't write an appreciate post without mentioning @eddiespino who follows and support me. He advices me and also encourages me to live my life, chase my dreams and understands I'm human and I make mistakes. Lastly, @yabapmatt who saved me from alot and also helped my dream come true.
This shows that they are people who are willing to give you a chance and they see the value you bring as well.
Also if you dive into my blog and comments, my votes all come from the same set of people which should tell you a lot about life. You don't need the entire world just a few good people who truly follows and support you.
My Purpose on Hive
My purpose of being on Hive is to make a living for myself through the value I bring. In the last few years, I have struggled financially and run into a couple of debts and I've lacked a purpose. Even aside from getting a job apart from Hive, I am still trying to improve my earnings on Hive.
I have two projects currently. One is aimed at supporting Nigerians, by creating that family bond and bringing people together. While the second one is my dream. organizing one of the biggest chess tournaments on Hive which hopefully would get bigger and be done in different parts of the world someday.
Moving forward I intend to help people and I'm grateful for the 1000 followers. So what other community would I love to express my heart to than the Flame as I burn this feeling and thought as a means to ponder on life and wash my soul bits by bits to the ever burning flame in the words of @opidia.
Also, I will be singing my songs of reflections here in the community as one of the scribes of the realms.
Thank you for reading.
A master of scrolls here @hopestylist brought me back to Hive for the last time after I thought there was no way back for me. Giving her 50% of this post rewards as I write this on her birthday

and welcome back ☀️
Thank you Master of the scrolls!
Great to see your first post here. Nice reading from you.
You have a great support system here on hive and that's a good thing.
Thank you! I won't necessarily say support system, I'd say friends. Even if there were no hive, we already established some things in common.
Thanks for stopping by my friend.
Yeah you are correct. That's nice.
Keep up the good work Sam .
Sometimes people come and go for a purpose but the ones who stand by you through the tough times are the ones you really need to hold onto.
Yes my dear, I get surprised these days by people. Especially my loved ones. Either ways I'm holding on to the right and the ones that are always there for me.
Thanks for stopping by!
Building a connection with people is not really an icing on the cake. Sadly, that’s how it seems when it all works out. People stop seeing the effort both parties put in to keep that friendship going and alive. Mostly, they just think, oh he or she is just so lucky. Well, you can’t say too much. If they know, they know.
I have made really good friends too on hive and off hive. One thing I have learnt is that nothing stays the same forever. I try my best to cherish every opportunity to serve people because that’s what I want for myself. Keep appreciating the people that stay and keep being the one that stays as much as it’s possible with you.
Thank you so much for the gift, Sam. I’m glad you came back to hive after what I’ll call a shipwreck. I always looked forward to seeing you back and I’m glad you came back. Things might get rough but it isn’t meant to break you. It only makes you stronger and brings the best out of you.
