🎬 Movie Review: The Thursday Murder Club(ENG-ESP)

🇬🇧 English Version

Hello everyone,

It is time for another review on a movie I recently watched, and it is time for me to sit back and relax with a movie playing on my TV screen. This time it is The Thursday Murder Club. I have to confess first that I am a sucker for murder mysteries, either in comedy or drama form. Well, this movie is a comedy. It is not too serious, but it has a twisted ending to it, which I will try my best not to spoil or give away.

The movie centers on Cooper Chase, a nursing home for the elderly, filled with different engagements, activities like painting, knitting, swimming, and other kinds of bonding exercises that can be done with friends. These activities are broken into a form of clubs, where if you belong to a specific club, you get to participate in these activities at different times. Well, the unique thing about these activities is that the people who participate in them go ahead to form clicks, a group of people who are friends or at least share a common interest.

This is when the Thursday Murder Club gets formed by Mirren’s Elizabeth, a former spy, and her friend, who happens to be in a coma. What this club does is investigate intriguing murder mysteries. Others in the club are Brosnan’s Ron, the funny guy who you might remember from the early James Bond franchise; he is the person with jokes and a strong love for his club, West Ham. Then there is Kingsley as Ibrahim, a retired psychiatrist with the psycho-analysis of the cases and trying to unmask the behavioral pattern, and finally Imrie as Joyce, a retired nurse who was offered an invitation to the Thursday murder club because of the need for medical expertise on the case.

The murder the club gets involved in is an interesting one that involves the owners of the apartment. It occurred not too long after there was an altercation between the owners. One wants to sell and the other wants to retain the building. It becomes mysterious when there are more secrets to cover with the death of a single person. This is the spice to the movie; you expect the movie to move in one direction, and then there is another twist. The twists in movies like this are what I live for. It is exciting and keeping me thinking who it could be?

The sense of humour of these characters is what keeps me going with the movie. For example, when Elizabeth got a compliment from her husband, who called her the late queen of England because of her outfit. I do not know what is more funny, her outfit or how she goes under the guise of her club member Joyce down to the police station. That is not where it ends for them; they even manipulate the police with elderly mannerisms and elderly acts. They brought whom they want to get involved in the case, and better still, they act like they do not even know what they are doing.

The Police chief gets mad when this murder club is always ahead of the police department. The Thursday Murder Club is smart and knows how to use their elderly age to their advantage when needed. You should check out the movie if you are a murder mystery fan like me, and it is based on Richard Osman's novel with the same title. Let's see how fast you are to uncover who the murderer is.

This movie looks like something Mathew would want to see. Actually not a fan of movies like this though. If I say I would see it ,it's a lie.
But from your review , I know it's something someone who like mystery solving movies would like. @mathewdaddywah add to the collection
