When trust failed
Greetings!

Trust is one attribute all humans should imbibe and this is because it helps to make a way for anyone that has it. What's meant by this is that, as humans, we must be trusted and people should be able to entrust us with their substance and resources.
Though, in our current days, there's nothing as trust again as betrayal, and distrust has swept away what trust signifies in the life of the individual person.
But even at that, there's still people who can be trusted among humans in our various societies, but one thing is that they are not as much as those who cannot be trusted.
My personal experience with people has made me give up on the subject of trust. Some time ago, when I was seeking admission into the university, a close friend of my dad who happened to be a well respected man of God promised to help me secure my admission into the university but that he would need some amount of money to settle some of those who will assist us. When I heard this, I was not so pleased with it, but since my parents trust this man so much, there's nothing I could do.
However, my parents didn't hesitate to give him the amount he requested just to secure me my admission. Though, if it were to be in a saner climate, I wouldn't need to settle anyone but I could be admitted into the university, but because it's my country, I will have to wet the ground for me to secure admission as nothing goes for free over here.
So, after the man had received the money which was entrusted to him by my parents, he told us he'd distributed the money to the appropriate quarters but that the money was not even enough and that he added to it. He said I should be checking the school portal for the shortlisted names. When he said this, we were all happy as a family and looking forward to the release of the list. But when the list came out, my name was not found on the list.
When I told my parents that my name was not on the list, my dad put a call across to the man and his response was that he would contact those who he paid and that my dad should give him a few minutes. So, after a few minutes, the man called back and said the man whom he gave the money to said the money was not enough to process my admission and that my dad should send another money.
I told my dad not to send anything again, but he would not listen as he would always trust the man with everything within and without him. But even at the payment of the additional money. Nothing tangible happened.
So, in particular, my parents and I went to the man's place and there I met one of my class mates and his parents shouting at this revered man of God.

“What happened, Tosin?” I asked. “It's this man that has been collecting money from my dad to help me process my admission and even up till now nothing has clicked, we now went to the school and fortunately met the man he has always been telling us would help us to process the admission which is the school registrar, when we got to the man and narrated everything to him, the man said he has not been collecting anything in form cash or kind to help people with admission as the school authority is against such act,” she said.
When I heard Tosin's long narration, I turned left to look my dad straight in the eyes and all I could see in his eyeballs was disappointment. Though we haven't heard from the horse's mouth, looking at the speechless without uttering a word shows that he was guilty of what Tosin had just narrated.
After the whole scenario, the man promised to refund all the money he's collected from both families, but he wouldn't admit that he had not been paying the money he has collected from us to the school registrar as he's always claimed.
Finally, my parents and I left the place disappointed as we couldn't believe what we witnessed at the man's place and this is because he failed our trust. But aside from that, there's still people to be trusted.
Thanks for reading.
