When preparation meets opportunity!

Greetings!

Someone once told me that the best thing in life is to always be prepared and when I heard her saying that, I was a little bit confused and I sat down in my private room and re-asked myself what that means. I ruminated on the said statement of the fellow and later got an answer to what she said.

It's when I got the answer that I realized that to go far in life, one must always be prepared. One must always be prepared anytime any day, when it's easy or not, when it's raining or otherwise, when it's good or bad, in the cold or when it's hot, no matter what the situation may be, one needs to be prepared as that is the only way to get it right when the right opportunity comes.

Being prepared is far beyond what people think it means. It's beyond sleeping at night and waking up in the morning, it's even beyond us waking up all through the night and being busy without doing nothing. Being prepared is beyond all of these but requires strong willingness and determination.

It's only when we are prepared that our preparation can meet the divine opportunities that God has designed for us. Being prepared is even beyond prayers. I'm not saying to pray is not good, but some prayer without adequate preparation. And one thing about opportunity is that it comes but once.

Let's take as an example the story of the ten virgins in the bible. This particular story is a typical example of what preparation is all about. Out of the said ten virgins, 5 had their lamp filled with oil, while the other five didn't fill their lamp with oil, so those that were prepared were the one that was taken away by the bridegroom and the others who were just trying to get their lamp filled with oil when the bridegroom came were left behind and called the foolish virgins.

So, going by this short story, one would see the effect of preparation that meets opportunity. Those that were prepared were immensely benefited while others that were not prepared were left behind.

What prompted this my write up was what a friend of mine told me recently. This friend of mine, Lucas by name, told me he had an opportunity to travel abroad but because he didn't see it coming, he was not prepared at all. So, when the opportunity came, he was found wanting and he could not meet the demand at hand. He said though it was so painful but he had learnt his lesson in a bitter way.

So, one thing is that we all have to be prepared in whatever way we find ourselves. Financially we must be prepared. I have seen people that are found wanting financially when the opportunity they have been waiting for came to them. Someone like me would have fallen a victim to this when seeking admission, but when my admissions letter came, I was fully prepared. Though it's not easy, when I realized I had no one to take up my responsibilities, I made myself prepared which later paid off for me.

Likewise, we must also be mentally and emotionally prepared as we don't know what might come our way in the near future. It's our preparedness that would make us handle things and even bring about breakthroughs to us. So, we must be mentally prepared and emotionally stable to meet any opportunity that may come our way.

It happened that his cousin who was brought up by his parents had traveled out of the country for sometime now and they have not been a talking type. He said, on a particular day, the guy called him and asked if he had his passport, but he said no, as he has not done anything like that before.

Though, it might be so hard to get prepared as there can be as many challenges on our way. But even at that, we should not relent in our preparation. While preparing, finances might be an obstacle but we should not give it damn, instead, we should try and work hard to meet the requirements of our preparation. This once happened to me, but I made sure I systematically overcame it. Also, we must not be mentally or emotionally down while making our preparation as this could serve as a clog to our progress.

So, when the golden opportunity presented itself to him, he missed it because he's not prepared for it. Though, he tried himself to get the passport but all to no avail as the time given for the collection would not meet the deadline the cousin had given him. So, that's how he lost the golden opportunity presented to him due to lack of preparation.

It's only when we are prepared that our preparation will meet the designated opportunities that God has designed for us. So, let's always be prepared and when the opportunity comes, both would work together for our good.

So, in conclusion, we must make sure we are always prepared as this will put us in a good position to make use of the opportunities that may come our way. Though there might be challenges of any kind, we should not be weary in being prepared for the opportunities to come. We must make sure we are well prepared financially, mentally, physically and emotionally.

Thanks for reading.

A lot of people are still complaining that they have not been given opportunity but that is not so. There are a whole lot of them that opportunities have come their way but they ignore it because they were not prepared for the opportunity when it comes

As much as being prepared is good but the truth is that we cannot always be prepared, sometimes we are taken unaware and that way miss out on opportunities..
