The stinking clothes on a Sunday routine

Greetings!

The raining season has come and I'm so happy to witness another season of cold weather and planting. This time is one of those seasons I'm always looking forward to and this is because of the coolness of the weather which is quite different from what we used to witness during the dry season with hotness of weather with hydration and sweat all around.

But as good as the rainy season is, there's some things I didn't really like about this season. One of those things is the frequent downpours that used to happen in my area. This frequent downpour is always affecting my laundry business and for this reason, when the rainy season is coming, I used to close down my shop just to do something else, which is farming.

Furthermore, this has not in any way affected my own personal laundry which I used to do almost three days in a week.

Having said this, let me quickly delve into the topic of the week. It all started when I decided to wash my clothes last Thursday in preparation for the last Sunday service.

Although I knew the weather was not favorable, I thought it within myself that the sun would rise before the end of the day or better still before Sunday, so I started washing my clothes under the cloudy weather.

Immediately I finished washing the clothes, I spread it across the lines in my compound and it's after that this rain started and it rained from Thursday afternoon till very late on Saturday evening.

On that Saturday evening, I decided to take some of the clothes in and spread it on the door post just for fresh air to help me dry it a little bit. This was what I did for me to be able to put on my ushering department uniform to church last Sunday.

However, one thing I noticed while putting on the uniform in preparation for the Sunday service was this foul smell that came out of the cloth, but immediately I perceived this smell, I quickly applied my deodorants in large quantities to my body and the clothes.

So, on getting to church on that Sunday, I decided not to move close to people which I knew it's not possible as I would need to usher people in and at the same time take attendance of those that came to church that Sunday. It's while I was doing this that I saw people trying to leave their sit and move away from where I stood to take the attendance. Also, whenever I tried to usher people into the church, they would try to push me away or avoid me.

It's later when I noticed this that I tried to smell the clothes and immediately I put my nose to the clothes, I perceived the foul odor coming out of people. I was so embarrassed and disappointed in my deodorants which I thought would save me, but instead did not save but embarrassed me. So, since I have got to know why people were avoiding me, I felt this uneasiness within myself and I withdrew from my duty that day to sit in a lone place where people would not have to sit or stand near me without perceiving this foul smell from me. This event was so embarrassing and I have promised myself not to let the same happen again.

In conclusion, there are things that are more embarrassing than the word embarrassment itself, that thing is putting on stinking clothes which can make people around you uncomfortable. Though, it wasn't intentional but the frequent rain caused it.

Thanks for reading.
