The special moment of my life

Greetings!

The best moment of my life was when I wanted to contest for a faculty post in my department. Then, I was in my 200 level, I contested a faculty position with a 400 level student of the same department.

When I was in my 200 level and in my second semester which used to be the semester when the student's union and other faculties used to have their election to select another set of excos that would oversee the administration of the students body for another session, I was told and advised by my friends in the faculty to test my popularity and contest the election.

At first, I told those who came to me that I would not be contesting the election as I wasn't that popular in the faculty. Then, I was only known by the students in my class and they wouldn't have known me if not for the fact that I was the class rep.

However, when I realized that these people would not let me rest, I decided to heed their calls and I threw myself into the contest since they have promised to help me win the election.

So, after collecting the nomination form, I started the class to class campaign and during the class to class campaign, I was not that welcome as I was expecting by the students. This at first waxed me cold that I told those who pushed me to contest my withdrawal, but they wouldn't buy the idea, but deep inside me, I have withdrawn myself from the contest as I did not even campaign nor do anything regarding the contest again.

So, fast forward, the election day came as had been planned and the students from the faculty trooped out in their numbers to vote for the candidates of their choice with the electoral body of the faculty reeling the rules and regulations to both the candidates agents which I had none since I have withdrawn myself from the contest in my mind and to the voters as well.

The election started as it was planned and the voting process was completed late in the evening and it's a successful one.

Shortly after the voting, the counting and sorting out of ballot papers commenced and when it's the turn of the general secretary of the faculty, the position I was vying for, the faculty electoral body started the counting and sorting out of the ballot papers and to my greatest surprise, I won the contest against my senior colleague in the faculty.

It's so surprising to me that I could not even believe the outcome of the election having withdrawn myself from the election. It's a special moment of my life and at the end, I was declared the winner and sworn in.

At the end, I felt so loved and special.
