The song I never liked

My love for music cannot be overemphasized and it's for this reason I cannot do without music. Reason being that music has always nourished my spirit, soul and body. Not only this, the life in music has always brought about joy and happiness to me, making me lively in my day to day activities.

If I may be asked, what genre of music is my preference? I would answer by saying, I have no preference for a particular genre of music as all good music that teaches morals and motivates souls are my favorite. So, as for me, I listen to all genres of music that teaches morals and decorum.

So, back to the topic of the weekly prompt that has to do with my most hated music, though I would not actually use the word hate in my write up, but I would say, my most unmotivated music.

The unmotivated or better still as was being used in the prompt's topic, my most hated music so far is “ Living thing” a song sang by 9ice Alapomeji, a legendary singer known for his richness in the Africans Yoruba culture when it comes to his music.

I have always been an ardent fan of the music maestro, 9ice, right from his debut album “Gongo Aso.” I so much love his musical style and the way he used to embellish his music with the African language and attire. His musical lyrics of hope and morality that drew me to him right from then till now.

But on this musical work titled “Living thing,” I was so disappointed and this is because of nothing but from the angle he's coming from. Mr. 9ice on this one really deviated from what he's known for as a preacher of morality when it comes to his songs.

When I first saw the title of the song “ Living thing.” I was so happy and eager to listen to the song, but on listening to the song, I was disappointed as to what he's preaching to the teaming populace, though it might have been that I misheard or misinterpreted the message of his song, but to me, I was so convinced that I did not misinterpreted the song and its message.

The song “ Living Thing” by 9ice was about making me. In the song, Mr 9ice was so particular about making money by any means, though, he was against theft or stealing even in the song, but aside from theft or stealing, he was of the opinion that one can or should make money by any means. He also made use of the word Wire Wire, this word wire, is related or associated with fraud and this justified and further buttressed his point that you can make money by all means, even if it's by a fraudulent act, or any other illegal means. But don't steal or rob. What this means is that, he's encouraging the teaming youth to make money by all means even if it's in an illegal means.

But one thing I would have love him to know is the power of words and music. With what I know about the wordings of a song, whenever it's drop and go viral, then it would be difficult to take it back from the public space and it message is faster to understand than any other messages.

So, when I listened to the song as I have stated earlier, I was disappointed and could not believe my ear to have heard his voice singing the song. The song was a bad one that was only preaching and supporting illegal acquisition of wealth. Though he had come out to defend himself from all forms of criticisms against the song, the deed has been done already and no matter how he's defended himself, there's nothing he can do other than just to redeem his public image than sliding down the pit. Most especially from his fans that have journeyed with him over a decade or so. But I still love his person and his music, but the living thing is a zero for me. This is my own person opinion though
