The risk worth taking

Risk taking is part of life and there's no way we will live on earth without taking a risk either knowingly or unknowingly. Just today, I was telling some people that this life we are in is full of danger and this danger brought about risk. So, while taking risks in life, we must also know that danger lies ahead.

So, risk taking is something everyone who intends to be great in life must encounter or take. There's a series of risk taking. My own way of taking risks might actually be different from yours and vice versa. But it all depends on the individual perspectives about life.

Having talked about risk taking to us, i would like to talk about the recent risk that was taken by me. Though I have taken a series of risks that have shaped me in life, this one I would be sharing with us is a risk to remember.

Some time ago, I took a risk of buying a piece of land in our neighborhood. Buying land in the neighborhood is not an easy thing as land grabbers are always on the rampage to take the land from its rightful owner.

So, when buying land in my local community, it's at your own risk as land grabbers would torment you. Not only that, if you buy land in my community and you refused to do anything on it for 2 months, then the land would be taking away from the person sold it to and resold to another person that's the norm in my community.

So, knowing this and having at the back of my mind, I bought the land and after buying the land, I couldn't do anything on it, it's a very serious situation for me as I was afraid of my land being taking away from me by the grabbers. Those people that we bought the land together have been working on theirs knowing fully well that the land grabbers will come for them if they do nothing on it. But as for me, I have nothing left with me after buying the land.

But not quite long after that time, the unexpected happened as the state assembly of my state passed a bill prohibiting the land grabbers operation. When the news first broke out, I was not really interested in it as I thought it's the normal rumor we used to hear every now and then. But it's later that I confirmed the report from a reliable source from the ministry of land that my mind was put to rest.

So, since the bill had been passed to law, none of the land grabbers was seen around our community again and since then all the land owners have known peace including me and others who were unable to do anything on the land which we bought at risk.

But after everything, I was able to raise money with ease without any panic to develop my site. Though the local government development authority came to collect their dues, but it's still better compared to what we used to have in those days when thugs and land grabbers would not allow you to build in peace.

Now, I'm done with the project and I'm not only a land owner but a landlord who has weathered the storm of being harrassed and cheated by land grabbers. I took the risk of owing my own landed property and with the help of God and the government, I didn't fall victim of their operation. Now, I have bought other lands worth acres in the community without the fear of being harrassed or cheated by the land grabbers.

So, taking risk has it good and bad side, but if there's anyone who would not take risk, such a person may not be able to actualize his dream. Taking risk and being great in life are sometimes inseparable as there's no gain without pain. Had it been I didn't take the risk of getting the land back then just for the fear of being harrassed and cheated by the grabbers, I wouldn't have achieved what I have achieved.
