The popular saying: " what would be ,would be"

Greetings!

There are enough popular sayings that talk about life and its mystery. Popular sayings to me are not just ordinary sayings, but saying that are mysterious in their own ways, which are being said to prepare us humans about what life and its mystery is all about.

Though, there are popular sayings that are good for preparing one's mind about what life could offer or do for us, but not all are meant to believe in or be trusted. It all depends. One thing I believe about the popular saying is that it can show us more about things and make us understand how life is.

Popular sayings are mostly in the form of idioms, proverbs or the words of the elders that have been portrayed in my part of the world and are used to convey messages, ideas or perspectives. Quotes of some people can also serve as popular sayings, but this has to do with the depth and richness of the statement.

In my lifetime, I have used and heard almost all the available popular sayings in my area. When I say used, what is meant by this is that, I have applied these said popular sayings to most areas of my life and to be candid, some worked like magic in its application while others didn't really hold water.

One of those popular sayings that has really worked wonders for me as being used in my area is that which talks about people. There's this popular saying in my area that says, “ humans are human cloth.” What this popular saying means is that people are people's helpers, and that when one is in need or wants to be put to shame, others will come to cover up for such a person. This saying like I said before has really worked magic for me and this is because I have once been a living testimony of not being shamed by those I owed debt. Then, those people were hellbent on putting me to shame by selling my one and only property, but with the support of my friends and family, I was delivered from their snare.

But, as my belief in this above popular saying cannot be tampered with, there's another popular saying that I don't have any belief in and this is because going by my understanding and experiences about life, this popular saying that I'm about to talk about is just a vain saying and not to be considered as so important as a popular saying.

The saying that says “what would be, would be.” Is a saying that I would not agree to anytime, anyday. Though, some might align with it, but as for me i would not in any way align with it. The reason for this is that anything that would make me complacent and remain static or stagnant would not go down well with me. Though, I'm not disputing the authenticity or the power of the saying, but as for me, I believe nothing is beyond repair.

Though, there's something called fate, but even there's fate, must it be like the poor should now believe that he would remain poor because of the saying, or must it be like we should now embrace and be happy with bad situations because of the saying. No, things can change and thank God for the saying that change is constant. Indeed, change is constant. So, instead of us resigning to fate and saying “what would be, would be.” Why can't we embrace change and be determined that we will not maintain the status quo, but rather be determined to take the bull by the horn and change the narratives.

Like I said earlier, I stand to be corrected on that popular saying, that “ what would be, would be.” But as for me, I don't have any belief in it and I would not subscribe to the idea of the saying. I have once been in a state of no hope, where friends are the one taking care of me, but it got to a time when I resisted to being a beggar. I remember I asked them to, instead of giving me all the time, to establish a viable business for me, which they did. Had it been that I have followed the saying that “what would be would be,” I would have maintained the status which would by no means have done me anything good, but just to be on the same spot.

So, the popular sayings are there just to give us direction about life, but we should not always believe it to the letter as we can also improve on the saying.

This is my entry to the hivereachout weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading.
