The over-caring mother

Ayo happens to be the only son of his parents and just because of this he was being pampered and everyone knows this with the family.

From what I heard earlier from people, I was told Ayo got conceived when his mum had reached her menopause age. Aunty Shade, who happened to be their neighbor once told me that,

“Mrs Adio, after her late marriage, didn't conceive on time.” She continued and said, “during those periods, she used to break down in tears as she thought she would not give birth again, but when least expected, pregnancy came and the pregnancy of then was Ayo.”

When I heard this from aunty Shade, I was moved with emotion and I saw the reason why the above 60 year old woman would always defend his son whom he bore at her old age.

There's a day Ayo got punished for not doing her assignment by his Mathematics teacher, when he, Ayo got home, he reported to his mum saying,

“Mummy, my teacher punished me for not doing my assignment today.”

When the mother heard this, she was angry and went to the school to query the teacher as to why he punished her son. The teacher tried to explain to the mother, but all was to no avail as she wouldn't even listen to what he was trying to tell her.

After her altercation with the teacher, she went to the school office and asked the principal of the school to sack the teacher or allow her to take her son to another school, but the school principal would not sack the teacher for doing the right thing.

The principal, being a disciplinarian, told the woman to take her son to another school if she wanted to, but that she would not in any way sack his staff.

When the woman heard this, she got furious and headed to the exit door with her child Ayo and that was the end of the studentship of Ayo at the school.

The following morning, Mama Ayo as she was fondly called took her son to another school which was very close to the first one to be enrolled. When they both got to the new school, they handed to them the school law book and tenets and they agreed to the law of the school and also promised to abide by all the school rules and regulations.

However, few weeks after he had been enrolled to the school, another event took place and this time around, Ayo was accused of stealing from his classmates bag and when this got to the school authority, his mother, Mama Ayo was invited and in her getting to the school and being briefed about what happened, she flare up and everything went out of country as she would not even listen to people's pleadings.

After all her display in the school, the school authority expelled her son, Ayo and that was how he, Ayo was expelled from two schools within a term.

When those that were close to her heard about this, they went to her and told her to take caution in how she would handle any case that has to do with her son, Ayo, but she would not even listen to anyone as she believed that anyone that wants to assist her with her child upbringing hates her and the son.

So, when it got to this level, everyone began to look at her and how she's handling the issue of her child from afar as they would not want to be embarrassed by her.

Furthermore, after a while, when she believed everything had settled, she took Ayo to another school for enrollment, but at the school, Ayo was rejected and was not enrolled.

When the mother asked,

“Why are you not getting my son enrolled?” She was being told by the admission officer of the school that, “the local inspector of education in that local government has directed us not to admit him in any of the schools within this local government.”

When she heard this, she flared up again, but no one even looked at her and this event was what took Ayo out of the community as her mum took him to her sister in the neighboring local government where he was enrolled.

At his new school, Ayo would not still change as he was caught playing bet with other rogues in the school when they were caught, they were suspended and later expelled and this event prompted his coming back to his mother in the village when the news went round the village, people began to blame the action of the boy on her mother who in turn would not say anything as she out of her care for the boy destroyed him.

Although before I left the village, Ayo had begun to see life in another dimension and I hope he would use that little experience of his life to turn a new leaf.
