The open secret of online apologies

Most of the life people are living now can be compared or likened to fake ones, reasons that everything people now do is not from the depth of their mind, but at the top of their tongue. People are not being sincere about what they do anymore, but taking chances and standing to gain from their hypocritical life is what's of greater importance to them.

Back then in the formal setting of life, genuineness of heart and the origin of our acts and behaviors are those things that were used to measure good character of a virtuous person,but now, the reverse is the case.

Though, offending people has been in existence right from the ages, so as apologising for forgiveness. This can be seen whenever people misbehave even in the scripture. We have seen and read how a town sinned against God and after words tender their sincere apologies to God with all hearts of soberness and genuine repentance. This the Nineveh people did by putting on sack clothes and putting ashes on their faces and they even fasted for the remission of their sins.

But, that was then as our people while tendering apologies in this current digital world are only doing so to save themselves from all sorts of backlash and criticism. Most especially, those online or social media apologies are not as genuine as they ought to be. In fact, some of them are only there to apologize just to fulfill their hypocritical needs. Though, some might be genuine, but the larger percentage of those who come online to apologize are not being sincere about it.

Also, most of those coming online to apologize are only doing so to create awareness and traffic for themselves on social media. In fact, some of them are only doing so to create this emotional blackmail for people online, most especially their followers whom when they see them think they were being genuine with the apologies being made via the online video. Which is not. So, some of them coming online via the social media to tender their apologies sees it as an opportunity for them to add to their numbers of followers and not only that, to make more money and blackmail their followers emotionally. Though, I'm not saying all are fake, but I would say, most are fake.

How do you now know the fake online apologies? To know those who are fake about apologizing to those they've offended might be difficult, but as for me, I would get to know with their body language and the words of apologies that come from their mouths. Let me say it clearly here. Whenever there's genuine apology, the person tendering the apology would be sober and feel remorseful; this can't be hidden. But if it's genuine, you will still see the person not truly admitting to what he's done wrong. The feeling of I'm too big to apologize would still be there, pointing accusing fingers would still be noticed in the apology and most importantly the apology would be ego centered.

So, all this would be a hint to an apology that's not genuine. Though, it's time that I would later tell if such an apology is genuine or not. If the apology is genuine, the person would not go back to wrong the person again, but if not, he would still go back to the same thing he has been doing to warrant begging for forgiveness all the time. So, one thing that can't be hidden in life is our characters and that's why there's a saying in my place that says,” characters are like smoke that can be hidden. When it will come out.”

I'm not saying that all online apologies are fake, but the genuine ones are scarce to see as people are only selfish and self centered about everything now.
