The importance of multilingual

Language is the beauty of our culture and to me, it's something that makes communication to be perfect and makes our messages to be understandable.

Having said this, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt which is, “ a new language.”

To me, learning a new language is not bad at all, in fact, it's something that should be embraced by all and this is because it would help to boost the communication system of the world.

In the past whenever I heard that people are multilingual which means they can speak as many languages of their choice, I used to envy them and this is because I know for sure that they cannot have a problem when it comes to them communicating with others with different languages and tongues in the world.

So, since then, I have always loved and wanted to speak and understand more than a language, but because of the challenges around me, I have not been able to learn a new language.

To speak and understand more than a language in the current dispensation of the world is not something bad like I have said earlier, in fact, it has it own great advantage to the ever growing world where everything has changed and for one not to be bypassed, I think one need to embrace a multilingual lifestyle.

I could remember a friend of mine here in Nigeria traveled to Russia to study and on getting to Russia, he was not able to speak and understand their Russian language over there, although he tried to learn it, but all he could speak or understand was the basics of the Russian language and for this reason, he couldn't cope nor stay long on the Russian soil. Although he was translating every word spoken to him with the word or language translator, this could not do the magic as it ought to and that was what led him back home.

Had it been he could understand the language very well, maybe he would have become a success in the foreign land and on the foreign soil, but the reverse was the case and all he did was to return home just because of the language barrier which he could not break.

So, to me the time has come to be multilingual as it would be of a great help to those who are determined to learn, speak and understand multiple languages.

Just of recent, a friend sent me a job link and after I had applied for the job, I was told that the interview would be an online one since the company is not a Nigeria company but a German based company.

As if that was not enough, I was equally told that the interview would be conducted with the German language and this made me opt out of the interview and the job which would have earned me good pay for my life and even transformed my life forever. But because of the language barrier which I could not understand I lost the great opportunity.

In conclusion, because of the great opportunities accrued to multilingualism, we should all embrace it.
