The Evolution of Music||From Analog to Digital

Music is one of those things that has always made life full of fun and joy and that's why I have always said music is life. Music is life because it covers every facet of human life and anything that covers every facet of human life is life in itself.

So, to the topic of the weekly prompt, I would like to share my own view about the changes that have taken place in the digital music world of our current time.

When talking about music, I would say music can be categorized into two which is the one in the past, I mean the analog or old form of music and the digital or the new form of music.

So, to be candid with us, there's been a unique paradigm shift from the way music is being done in the past compared to what's obtainable now in the digital music world.

In the past, music was done in a crude or raw manner. I can boldly say that, everything about music back in the ages is raw and aside that raw talent can be seen in the singers or musicians of old and most of these musicians did their music because of their passion for it and for the fun of it. Though, they too made their names and money from music, but that cannot be compared to what's obtainable in this current digital age.

Like I said before, the paradigm shift from the musical analog age to the musical digital age cannot be overemphasized and I can boldly say that, series of changes had really taken place in the music industry compared to the past years. Some of the areas where these changes have taken place are in the area of creation and production, distribution and consumption, industry impact and so on.

Starting with the creation and production, a series of changes have really taken place in this area. The use of various software tools has really helped producers,songwriters and artists to produce high quality music without spending much on the production. Also, the invention of Ai has really brought about a dramatic change and impact to musical composition.

This has really assisted artists in composing their songs with ease without any stress. Aside from the aforementioned points, the use of effects and virtual instruments has really helped artists in building their musical career. All these are what could not be obtained in the past as those musicians of the past were known for their raw talent. But the advent of technological aids have really brought about a paradigm shift to digital music when compared to the older ones.

Having talked about the production and creation aspect of the changes that have occurred in the digital music world, another aspect that has really experienced tremendous changes is that of distribution and consumption.

Unlike before that music and music videos were to be bought and taken home for viewing or listening, the way music is being distributed now is via the online music platform, social media and the streaming platform. So these days, people don't really need to go to the market to buy musical cassettes or discs for the purpose of listening to or even viewing.

Now, immediately a song is being released, it lands on various online music platforms or online streaming platforms. So, it's on this platform that people now listen and view their favorite musical works. This particular change can be attributed to the digital change that's taking place in the musical world.

These music streaming platforms are not only meant to make things easy for the listening or viewing audience, but to also generate more income to the singers. This income generation can come in the forms of likes and followers the particular song or singer has.

So, like I said earlier, there's been a paradigm shift from what music used to be in the past to what's now obtainable now. Though, there are challenges to these changes also, but even at that, the changes had brought about a lasting legacy to the musical world and produced more talent when compared to what we used to have in the past.
