The effect of social media education

Greetings!

The current dispensation we are all in is all about technology and to be candid with us, technology has really played a very important role in making life easier for human. Apart from this, it has also helped in human growth and development as can be seen in the way and manner people now live and relate with one another.

So far so good, technology has really made life much easier compared to the past. The development of gadgets and apps which includes, cellphone, PC and other gadgets that can be used to reach the whole wide world within the limited space and time and even at the comfort of our homes has really
helped humans. Also, the development of apps which includes , the WhatsApp, tiktok, instagram, X formally known as Twitter have really help in human in their exposure to the world and even make the world a small community. All these are part of the technological development that's occured and have really changed the world from its formal state to a more modern state. All these apps has really helped in connecting people together without any barrier as such even within the limited space and time.

So, going by the topic for this write up, one thing I would like to see in my own lifetime is that of the social media being treated or studied as a course or subject in the school. In fact, the social media as a course of study should as a matter of urgency be included or drafted into the educational curriculum and this is because, if we look at the kind of life we are all living in this current dispensation, we will all realize that both the social media and human are like a siamese twins which cannot be separated. Though, people in one way or the other have been misusing the opportunity presented to them by this social media of a thing, but notwithstanding it's been the best thing so far to happen to humanity.

Now, the reason for the misuse, of the social media handle by the majority of the people in my own opinion has to be the major reason why I think the social media should be drafted into our curriculum and also studied as a course in the school. Studying it as a course in the school to me has a lot of benefits which will at the end of the day help us all to know much about the advantages and the disadvantages with the implications attached to the use of the social media.

Some of the advantages that I personally believe that the studying of the social media as a course will offer to us is that of the know-how of the social media and its various apps, the guidelines on how to use it, the discovery of fake news , making money via the apps and a whole lots more. All these I have mentioned above and others will always be at our advantage when the social media is being studied as a course or subject in the school and as the saying goes, " when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. " So, for us to stop abusing the advantages of the social media, it must as a matter of urgency be drafted into the national curriculum and be study as a subject or a course in the school.

Though, there are also many disadvantages attached to it, such as unnecessary exposure which has really caused damages to so many lives, sometimes ago, a guy was apprehended for killing his friend for ritual and when asked where he came about what he did, he told the police that he learnt it on the social media through a native doctor. Can you now see the extent and the degree of damage being caused by the social media. Not only that, some people believe that there's a perfect life with what they see on the social media. Though there might be a perfect life, but a perfect life is not the one being flaunt on the social media. These are some of the disadvantages wrong doings that I strongly believe that if and when social media is being drafted into the curriculum and being studied in the school as a subject or course will be able to curb and set the society on a path of sanity and unwavering development.
