Private firm and Essentials Control

Greetings!

One thing that's very essential to human is water and other amenities such as road and electricity. Like the saying goes, no one dares makes enemy with water, Yes, the saying is just the absolute truth, but even as we human need water and other social amenities to survive, the availability of these amenities or even their state is in a state of worrisome.

But before I go further to talking about the Featured prompt, I will like to talk about the basic amenities or infrastructure as it is might refers to in ur own area. Basic amenities are those necessity that are needed by human to survive on earth. These basic amenities as I have earlier mentioned includes: portable water, electricity and good road network.

The sad thing now is the inability of the government to provide the aforementioned basic amenities to the good people of their nation due to factor like corruptions and bad governance of those in authority. I could remember when I was in the secondary, one of our teachers miss Ronke, who happened to be our economics teacher taught us about public and private liability company and their function. She taught us that the private companies are meant to provide essential services to the people just for making profit, and that, the public enterprise are only there to look after the welfare of the masses. Though, looking about the welfare of the masses was not in total as being taught by our teacher as, we were being taught that, people directly or indirectly pay tax just to enjoy all these social amenities.

So, going by the prompt, one thing I would have love is for these amenities to be under the authority of the government, but because of the bad governance and the lackadaisical attitudes of the country's leaders, those social amenities have been left in a state of comatose. Though, there's some amenities being taking good care of by the government, but to be candid, those neglected are more than the one taking care of. Those neglected are even the much needed basic amenities but due to the negligence of the government, they are all in a miserable state.

So, handing over these amenities to the private individual or company under the guise of privatization to me should not have been the best option, but lack I said earlier the bad governance of our leader has really made it the best alternative to the negligence of our leader. Though, privatization also has both it good and the bad sides, but overall, those services or infrastructure being put in the hand of the private company can be rest assure of good standard and durability compared to the government handled amenities. If the private individual should handle a project, there will be proper monitoring and good service delivery unlike that of government that would be disrupted by the act of corruption on the part of the government official which in most serves as deterrent to the services provided by the government.

Also, talking about the disadvantages of privatization, the one and major disadvantages of these is that most of the masses would be deprived of accessing those services being handled by the private organizations and this is due to their profit making principle. Can you imagine people paying to access good road network. Even paying to have access to portable water is not even in the best interest of the masses unlike the government that would only care about the welfare of their masses, though, people are still paying for those services and the maintenance of those amenities being put in place by them, but notwithstanding, it always come at a subsidized rate. Which is still okay.
Though, we've tried series of privatization methods in Nigeria through which some are working with high tariff rate being put on the masses by the company, such is the privatization of the telecommunications company and the electricity companies which are only putting high rate without distributing electricity to various homes.

So, both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the negligence on the part of the government are the cause of decay in our infrastructures in the country. Though, some roads have been concessioned to the private company that at their full operation, will be collecting tolls from the motorist who atime may not be buoyant to pay due to the current state of the country, but one thing is that they will make their profit and provide good service and proper maintenance of the amenities.
