Music|| The old wine and the new skin
Greetings!
Like I used to say, music is life and life is music both are inseparable and both would be inseparable for life.
One other thing about music is that of its existence. Music has been in existence for a very long time and I would even say, right from the inception of the heaven and the earth, music has been in existence as can be seen in the holy scripture. So, music is ancient.
Having say much about music and before I proceed, i would like to wish every reader of this post and all member of the hive block chain a happy new month to you all, we will live to witness more of it on earth (Amen)
So, without wasting much of our time, I would like to talk and discuss the topic of this week prompt which is all about traditional music versus modern music. But before I proceed, I would like to define music. Music in my own layman definition can be defined as anything that has sound, lyrics , rhythm and rhymes accustomed by instruments which makes it pleasant to listening to.
So, having defined music in my own layman definition, i would now go to the discussion in proper and I will start with the traditional form of music.

Traditional music is the mother of all other types of music and this is because, all other forms of music were birthed by traditional music.
Like I said earlier, music is ancient and the first style or form of music that came into existence is the traditional music and since it inception, the traditional form of music has always answered to its name and this is because of what is used in composing and in the production of the traditional music, even the instruments used in the traditional music are of the local and traditional instruments. Such instruments are: the local talking drum, the local konga drum as always been used by Orlando Owoh, the Akuba or Agbamole drum used by the Ayinla Omowura and his Apala band and so on are what makes the traditional music relevant right from their own time to this present moment.
Though they are not as popular amongst the youthful vogue of this generation, but for the old generation, they still listen to these songs of old with joy and anticipation and this is because the traditional music is more of moral when compared to the modern music which is all about sound, beat and entertainment. I have been a witness to traditional music and how its operates in the past and I can say it's more of moral, discipline and decency.

Now, back to the modern form of music, which is more of beat, sound and fashion, I would say, the modern form of music came out of the traditional music and like I said earlier, the traditional music gave birth to the modern form and what we now called modern music can be said to be carved out of the ancient musical style of the traditional musical style. It's the modernization of the traditional music styles that we now refer to as modern music.
As we all know, change is constant. The change in how the traditional is being composed, produced and the migration from the crude instruments being used in the traditional music brought about modern music. In the past, beats were not created as everything was raw, but now, singers or musicians now sing to already created beats. Back then, there's nothing called effects, but now, we now have effects in most of the songs being sung by the musician and listened to by the listener.
Though there might be studio works back then too, but not as rampant as it's in the modern music of today, the way the modern form of music entertain people at club house now is quite different from that of the traditional music, fashion is what is known with modern music unlike the traditional music where fashion is a the lower ebb. Musicians nowadays organize concerts to promote their brand, but this is not so common in traditional music. The advent of hip hop, reggae, fuji, afrobeat has brought a drastic change to the traditional music of Apala, Juju, and the like.
Also, the coming of artists such as Davido, Burnaboy, Asake, Wizkid and other of their contemporaries has brought modernization to the Ayinla omowura of the blessed memory, Babangani Agba also of blessed memory and their contemporaries. These people were the symbol of our cultural value and traditions.
So, the difference between the traditional and the modern music are crystal clear and should not be minced together.
This is my entry to the afri-inleo initiative prompt.
Thanks for reading.
