Moral, Ethics and Law|| Balancing the trio

Greetings!

The popular biblical saying says, “ where there's no law, there's no sin.” is a very correct saying. Though ethics is not law, but a set principles and standards that govern behavior in a particular.

And as for moral, moral is the individual's personal values and principles. These two things are as important as anything in guiding and safeguarding our society from corruption and other public vices.

So, back to the topic of the prompt in proper, I would like to bring my opinion to the fore concerning whether both should be put into consideration when making the country's law.

To me, I would buy the opinion of setting both as the law of the country and this is because both are already a set of principles guiding one's either professionally or personally.

So, by promulgating both into law, it will help to set new tones of professionalism into the professional aspect of the individual lives where people would be guided in the way they carry out their duties professionally.

Though, this has been in place before now in the form of work ethics, I can boldly say all the professions has one rule or the other guiding their professions, but one thing is that, people or let me say professionals are not following or adhering to their works ethics which is affecting the productivity of individual professionals, but if this ethics of a thing is promulgated into the general law, then the professionals will sit tight and obey it rather than what's obtainable when it comes to the current existing ethics of the different professions.

Also, I would want an individual's moral principle to also be considered while making law in the land. Though, there's some moral standard in our laws, but to make things more morally standard and to some certain extent mandated, the moral aspect of life should also be considered and this will enable the citizens to make it a point of duty to do things morally instead of the optional way through which people carry out things morally in the society. Aside from this, this would help and make people improve their moral relationships with others and at the end give us a sane society.

But in as much I would have wanted those thing to be considered while making laws of land, I would not want that of morals to be forced on people as this is personal to the individual in the society, but instead of that, people should be sensitized and orientated on how good the moral aspect which has been considered while making laws can be of great benefit to the entire populace and the human race as a whole, by so doing, people would see reasons to change their way of life morally.

Now as long as something is done without hurting others, and should not make those things done to be legal, everyone should and must be guided by the law of the land and people should not be allowed to do whatever they like. One thing I know about people is that, if given the opportunity to do things the way they like, they will misuse the opportunity. We must all be guided by the stated rules and regulations as this will always serve as a watchdog to everyone concerned.

Let me quickly share an experience I witnessed with us. There's this man who was appointed to lead an organization in the past. This man was a good man and his moral standard can't be overemphasized.

So, when he got on board, he got to know that those working for this particular government organization have been owed several months salary and he was moved and by doing so, diverted the money meant for a particular project for the organization into paying salary, so, after everything, the government heard about what he did and started probing him and at the end he was found guilty of misappropriation of funds.

So, he was arrested and jailed, but later granted bail on some grounds. Though, he was moved by morals in this scenario but worked against the law of the land. Now, what I'm trying to say is that, the law of the land supersedes all other things and that we should not be allowed to just do things all on our own as this may cause the society to be a society without vision.

And lastly, things done well without hurting others should be deemed illegal because. Though, it may not hurt anyone, but since it's not backed by the law, it should be referred to as illegal. And even as for me, anything that's not ethical or morally set up would always have its negative aspect of the people. One thing I have got to know about this life is that doing good cannot just happen without being morally upright and ethically motivated.

Excellent point! This story shows that the law is above all else. Although the man did what was right according to his moral principles, he broke the law. He only wanted to pay those people their back wages. I would have done the same!
