It's been a while since I watched a movie that has to do with corruption in the police. Though, there's several movies that talked about the decadence and corrupt practices in the police force everywhere, seeing this particular movie was a thrilling experience to me.

The movie Mob Cops is a 2025 movie, directed by Danny Abeckaser. The movie is all about the corruption in the police force and this corrupt practices and other atrocities carried out by actors like Canzano and his partner in crime Benetti, took me back to few years back when in my country, people were protesting against the highhandedness of the NPF, otherwise known as the Nigerian Police Force.

This movie under review is also about the highhandedness on the part of the two officers, unpatriotic in their actions, murder, corruption, killings, kidnapping and a whole lots of other bad vices that characterized the acts of these two main character and their mafia sponsors which include Galiano and Sherman.

Also, we have other characters such as Carmine Avara, Josh Hughes and a notable others that were murdered by these gang of mobs called cops. So, the movie was characterized by corruption and killings.

THE REVIEW:

The movie, Mob Cops is a movie that has to do with police corruption which was centered on two police officers of the NYPD whose names are Canzano and his crime partner, Benettti. These two were fond of killing people on the other hand of their payroll master who happened to be a mafia, Galiano. According to the narration, the duo were employed when the police department were in dire need of manpower. My own point is that, being desperate to do something would always lead to to doing the wrong thing. This can be seen in the way the recruitment of this two later turned out to be a torn in the flesh of the police department and the society at large. Also, their connection to the power that by also contributed to the court verdict, you can now see corruption everywhere.

Their actions really left many people dead and parents gnashing their teeth at the death of their kids, a typical instance was the killing of Josh and his brother. Though, Josh too was not innocent as he tried to kill Galiano which later resulted in his death, but notwithstanding, he was a victim of his act. All these acts can be said to be an act of violence and murder.

Also, in the movie, the two police officers in the persons of Canzano and Benetti can be regarded as moles in the police force. They both use their connection as police officers to get people arrested under the pretence of them doing their policing duties. Their acts of pretence really got many kidnapped and killed without any trace being left behind. Thank God for Josh's mum that got them recognized which later led to them being trailed, arrested and investigated by detectives Degalno and Pollino.

Also, their first trial in the court which later led to their release and promotion was not good enough as this even portrays the court as an arm of government that were not able to do the task when it comes to passing thorough and fair judgment. Not the judiciary alone, even the police department also didn't do well, and this is because how would they promote someone that was charged to court after being released. Though not guilty of the charges as passed by the court, that doesn't mean he should be promoted immediately he was free from The charges.

Also, the role played by the two detectives of Dalgarno and Pollino cannot be overemphasized. The duo really made sure these two corrupt officers were brought to book. They both did their best by reopening the case. Not only that, they did this by working round the clock to carry out thorough investigation about all the culprits which later gave them access to arresting the two officers, who had fled their former place to Nevada after their retirement. It's at this place they got arrested. So, these two detectives really tried their best in bringing the culprit to book and thereby restoring dignity to the police department, which was good for the integrity of the force. Though, trying to investigate them would have proved abortive hadn't it been that these two detectives were determined. This can be seen when a man who was to open the case again was been particular about the integrity of the NYPD without minding the atrocities these two have caused. But because of their determination, he agreed with them. Determination pays atimes.

Furthermore, the roles of their wives too cannot be taken for granted in the movie. Though the husbands were bad, the wives were the opposite of what their husbands stand for.

Their wives challenged them in most cases, one of the cases was when Benetti was spending money anyhow, the wife asked and questioned his source of money. Though, he later asked her to stop asking him questions, but to a large extent, the woman was able to do the right thing. Also, Canzano's wife would not also let him rest after she had found a reddish stain on her husband's suit. Though she thought it's lipstick, it turned out to be blood after the husband confessed to her.

Also, an element of hatred was seen in the movie. This can be seen in the way Sherman talked about Benetti. He once said he hated that fat one and he would have even stopped them from getting into the payroll of Galiano just because of the hatred he had for Benetti, if not for the usefulness of the duo to their mission. Aside from this, there's an element of love in the movie as well. The way the wives of the two related to them showed this. However, jealousy and insecurity can also be seen on the part of Canzanos wife who mistook blood for lipstick on his husband's clothes.

Also, the narrative epilogue that came after the scenes of the movie, really gave us more insight to the aftermath of what happened to the culprits, where in, Benetti was sentence to life imprisonment with 100 years added to it and his cohort Canzano sentenced to life imprisonment with 80 years added.

Aside from all these, the narrative and the dialogue system used at the same time by the director really make sense, though it was not really clear to me when first started, but later, I got to adapt with the narrative and dialogue style employed by the director of the movie. The cinematography and the musical sound being used are top notch.The use of technology to have access to Benetti conversation with the supposed Hollywood man was also a huge plus to the movie.

RATING:

The movie is an interesting one and I will rate the movie 6/10.
