Minimalist lifestyle reactivated
Greetings!
Minimalist lifestyle didn't just happened to me, but my love for a simple but comfortable lifestyle led me to living a minimalist lifestyle. Though, the way I was brought up was in tandem with the kind of what minimalism is all about. Then, my teacher mother used to be disciplined when it comes to spending and making use of those things available in and around her, most especially, her ability to turn things that were regarded as wastes to a refined new things. So, my mum would not take anything as waste back then and as a result, I have been used to such a lifestyle.
But, even as used as I was to the simple and succinct lifestyle, it got to time that I deviated from such a beautiful lifestyle that has accorded me so much ease. Back then, after I have abandoned the kind of lifestyle I was brought up with, competing with my folks was the other of the day and this was the anchor on which my exuberant life was based on. What do I mean by this? How to compete and live the kind of exuberance life others most especially my friends were living was the basis of my life. Then, I forgot what kind of life I stood for which is a life of simplicity and embraced an exuberant life.
So, as I continued to live in such a competitive life with other, I realized I was not so comfortable and at ease with my life and self any longer and this was because, to now manage and sustain myself was no longer as used to be, and instead of me now living a simple life, I then live a life full of competition and devoid of simplicity.
So, when I realized I was not being natural about my lifestyle any longer, I decided to retrace my steps back to the formal way with which I was brought up, which is the simple kind of a lifestyle, a minimalist way of life, and this has really put me back on track with ease.
Now, the first thing I did after my return to the minimalist way of life is to live a simple life, this I did by avoiding all kinds of competition or unnecessary rivalry with my folks. Then, I used to be like, whenever my friends get something being it clothes or other appliances, I too must get even if it's not of great importance to my list of demand. But now, I now get things based on priority. I now get things based on needs and not wants which has really helped me to curbing my excessive spending.
Also, in the course of my new way of living a simple lifestyle, I no longer sees things as a waste any longer, those things that i used to abandon or see as a waste are now what I'm really making good use of, most especially at home. For instance, then I used to throw away all the bottle after drinking the water or soft drink inside it, but now, thanks to my simple way of life, I now use these bottle to store my palm oil and vegetable oil. Not only that, I used some to preserve my beans so as to preserve it from being eaten up by weevils. And atimes, I keep some and sell it just to make more money to myself. This is seriously a great shift from exuberance to simplicity.
Also, the way I have been making use of the take away container in my kitchen has been tremendous, now instead of me wasting the take away container, I now use it to store and preserve my salt, some to store my seasoning and another to store my grinded pepper and melon. This has always been the way I was brought up, but I deviated from it just for no tangible reason.
All these kind of simple lifestyle I have been living recently has really helped me to keep and manage my space at home. Then also, I used to keep my food inside the nylon bag I bought the food with, but now, I no longer do that, and this is because, just of recent, I found a spoilt container, though not that spoilt, but because of the broken cover of the container, I have long abandoned it, but when I realized I have no place to store my foodstuffs, I turned back to making use of the container to store my and since then I have been enjoying it. So, instead of me wasting the container just because of the broken cover, I have turned it around to be my food storage facility.
So, I was born and bred with a minimalist lifestyle, but deviating from it really costed me, but going back to it as really being of a great benefit to me as I have been able to live according to the doctrine of a simple life. So, simplicity of life was what led me back to the minimalist lifestyle.
This is my entry to the weekly #kiss prompt.
