I want to do God's will but how can I stop doing bad things?

Greetings!

One thing is that we humans and most especially the believers always want to do the will of God, but we used to find it difficult doing his will.

Well according to Apostle Paul, He too experienced the same thing we believers are experiencing today.

Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

In the above scriptural verse, the Apostle made us understand that he too was always willing to do the right thing, but he did not most of the time.

So, what this means is that we cannot do the right thing on our own unless the spirit of God helps us.

However, all we need is the forgiveness of sins. We need to chase sin out of our lives and by then, we can do the will of God.

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

This above scripture is a testament that we need our sins to be washed away for us to do the will of God and that's what God told the Apostle to do for him to be able to do the will of God.

Now, to do His will is not by personal effort and this was what Apostle Paul said in the book of Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

In conclusion, Apostle Paul is telling us that to do the will of God or be forgiven of our sin is not by our work of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Which means we only need the Holy Ghost to do the will of God and not by our power.

Thanks for reading.
