Hi everyone and happy weekend from my end here, I believe we are fine. Starting my weekend with an interesting movie has been my wish since the beginning of the week and thank God, after the tedious work of the week since Monday, I was able to stumble on this interesting Bollywood movie titled Dragon, a film directed by Ashwath Marimuthu who co-wrote with Pradeep Ranganathan and produced by AGS entertainment.

This movie is an interesting Indian movie. Though, when I first saw the title of the movie, I couldn't believe it's an Indian movie as I had thought otherwise. Also, I thought the movie would be all about Dragons, but it's when I started watching that I got to know more facts about the movie and it's really worth watching for me as I would love to watch it over and over again.

Aside from the title and other things in the movie, the characters both major and minor , as presented to us by the director were superb as they played their roles to the best of their ability and knowledge. Characters such as Ragavan, Keerthi, Pallavi, the principal and all other characters as presented to us in the movie really acted their roles accordingly.

THE PLOT AND REVIEW:

The movie is all about a young promising boy who graduated with a 12th standard and won a medal in computer science in his school and after he had won the medal, he went to his crush to propose and profess his love for her, but to his greatest surprise, Anjana his crush would not even show him love as she preferred a rebellious boy to a brilliant and outstanding Ragavan. There's some ladies that love tough guys over the brilliant ones and this is just for their protection, but I would rather choose purpose over gangsterism.

So, with what he's witnessed and experienced from Anjana, Ragavan made a drastic decision that he would not remain the same gentle and serious boy he used to be, rather, he would choose a path becoming a rebel and a gangster. It's in this process that he and his friend Anbu changed his name D. Ragavan to Dragon. This should not in anyways be the end of such a brilliant student as he would have got a better person than his crush Anjana.

This change of name from Ragavan to Dragon really brought about a new way of rebellious life to Ragavan so that when he got to the AGS college in vellore, he became the leader of the gangsters which took him away from his vision to become a failure in the college and this also led him to having 48 arrears in his course.

This events and his gangsterism acts was what led him to dropped out of the college, though, he was given an opportunity to continue by the principal of the college, but he, Ragavan would not listen and take the offer, even his friends and his girlfriend keerthi was so surprised at his decision. This is an awkward decision from a promising guy who later got distracted due to a failed love proposal to his crush, which shouldn't have been his priority at that particular time. His priority then should have been his education and career.

So, after the incident, Ragavan went back home to his poor parents and when he got home, he told a series of lies to his parents. He told them that he'd graduated but that it would take time for his result to be processed, he also told them that he had secured a job that's paying him well, but this was not true as he used to leave home well dressed and go to his friends place without doing anything.

The only thing he used to do at his friends place and hotel is to smoke his cigarette, watch TV series and do tiktok and after that, he left for home after he might have gathered money from his friends and girlfriend Keerthi to deceive his parents at home about him collecting a good salary. Though, he would still be the one to collect all the money back from his parents. All his actions were full of deception, he was always in the act of deceiving his parents through his lies. In short, he has never told his parents the truth about his life and education. There's no iota of truth in him at all.

It's in one of his wasted days that his girlfriend called to see him at one of their meeting points which is a restaurant. It's at their meeting that the lady told him that her father has helped him to get a professor of mathematics for her to marry. Though, the lady had turned many men down just because of this guy, Ragavan, but this new man could not be turned down by her just because he had everything she needed. But when she told him that she had accepted the man's proposal, he got angry and tried to threaten her, but the lady was resolute about her decision. Going for a better is better compared to a man with no ambition and future. Women always love men with purpose, even when they have no money or job at hand at a particular moment of their lives, but they always believe the man would get it right one day, but that's not the case of Ragavan.

The lady, Keerthi, even called him a failure and said she also didn't want to end up a failure like him. This statement was what infuriated him the most and as a result, he left the scene and allowed the lady to go by her choice. Though, this might seem as a betrayal in the sight of many and this is because, it looked as if the lady ditched him for a better man, but to me, it's not so as he, Ragavan was living without any hope of a good future at sight. Also, a man without a degree in their society was known to be a failure, so for this reason, I'm in support of her decision of leaving him for a better and responsible man who would take care of her and cater for her needs, not someone who has no vision and plans for the future other than to smoke and lie all around.

But guess what, the decision of this lady didn't only favor this lady alone, it also helped to make Ragavan have a second thought about his life, which to me is a good development. This change in his life came to him after he had felt so bad about the lady's decision of ditching him for a better man which has really made him realize and accept that he was a real failure. The deep thought about the lady and the eventual accident he had while riding his motorcycle led to him taking the bold step of becoming a successful person having been advised by a doctor at the hospital he was taken to for treatment to work hard and obtain success.

It's in the middle of the night of the same day that he had the thought of making it in life and this thought was to keep to himself alone as he shared it with his friends who thought it's not possible for him without a degree to make it in life. Though they were being truthful by their beliefs, with determination nothing is impossible.

So, as he was still thinking of how to make it in life even without his degree, he was fortunate to be a man who came to play cricket with them. The man's name is Gowtham. It's Gowtham who introduced him to the certificate scam of a thing.

After he had been noticing him of his loneliness even when with his friends, he enquired from him the cause of his loneliness and it's at that point, he, Ragavan narrated his ordeal with him and he too did the same and even told him that he had 35 arrears when he was in the college, but that he became what he was because of the certificate scam, he directed him to the firm that helped him and on his getting to the firm, he was asked to bring a huge sum of 10 lakhs which he could not afford.

Immediately he was asked to bring the money for his certificate fraud, he went straight home to his parents to cook another lie for them, he told them he has got better offer worth 1 lakh per month, but that he needed to terminate the current contract he was into, though, his mother was against him, but trust his father, he would always be there for him as he sold their last piece of land to help him with the needed 10 lakhs. It's this money he took to the firm that was helping him with the certificate fraud and these helped him to secure a degree certificate, and the needed job in a US based company. As we can see here, everything about him was about lies and fraud.

At the company, Ravagan because of his background experience in the use of computers and in computers performed and worked so well. He was able to use his experience and technical know-how of the computer to perform excellently at the company where he won many awards and accolades, also, he was able to get an increase of his salary and also got promoted to the rank of a manager by the company CEO, Vale.

Though he has no degree certificate, here, we can see how smart and talented he was and no wonder his talent made way for him, but the most shameful thing was that he had no certificate to compliment his smartness.

Aside from this, he also made wealth at the company and he used that wealth to acquire his needed materials, such as houses and cars. Also, it's in the process of him working in the company that he celebrated his parents and got engaged to Pallavi, a billionaire daughter, but all these his wealth and success was just a fluke as he was caught by his college principal, who would have brought him down from his fake success, but instead of that, this man made sure he gave him a second chance towards righting his wrongs, he did so, and sat for the 48 arrears, though this was not that easy for him as he had left school for six years, but he was able to do so, with the help of his ex-girlfriend Pallavi, who became a lecturer having secured her MSC in the college.

Though, he sat for all the 48 arrears, but that's not the end of the case, as he failed the last paper due to his inability to take a rest from his unprepared surprise visit to Chennai to meet his fiance whom he had lied to on several occasion, so, his inability to rest from the surprised visit, caused him to be dizzy in the examination hall and before he could know it, the allotted time for the exam had gone and he couldn't write the necessary things down having prepared so well for the exam and this led to his failure of the last DSP paper. This is the result of so many lies he had lied to people and this really came at the moment where we watched our audience thinking he had scaled through the hurdles of his fake life and failed life, but it's just the end of a beginning for him.

Though he wouldn't have even studied for the examination if not for what had happened to Gowtham who introduced him to fake his own result too, Gowtham was caught and sentenced and this made him stay back and study so as to avoid the same fate befalling him. This he did, and eventually scaled through when he was being checked by his company if he too had used a fake result. But the company was made to know, he didn't at the last minute. He was happy and screamed, but that was not the end for him.

Nemesis will always find it's time to take revenge and this was what later happened to him at the end. At his wedding event, he came out for the first time to say the truth to everyone about his life and how he had been living a fake life and result to work and amass wealth for himself, he also talked about how he exchanged his script with that of a poor but brilliant boy who had lost his job at the Google company, after his admittance to the truth, he was arrested and sentenced to six months in prison. And with this he lost everything he had and after being released from the prison, he had nothing and was working as a dispatcher.

But because of his conscience and the truth he has spoken at the detriment of his life and wealth, he became a hero and he was referred by his principal as the most successful student of the college, aside that, the principal also offered him his daughter for marriage, which at first he resisted, but on seeing her, he fell for her and got married to her, also his father was also proud of him and this is to show that, no matter how you lie, the truth will expose you one day and when the truth come, it brings light, life and peace of mind as can be seen in the life of Ragavan who chose peace and truth instead of fake fame and fake success, though, he was earning well with his dispatching job, but that could not even measure to his lost wealth and job.

MY VERDICTS, OPINIONS AND SUBMISSIONS:

The movie is such an interesting movie as I have stated earlier and the following themes can be seen in the movie. The first theme is that of love. Also, the theme of lie, fraud, corruption can be seen in the movie, another theme that would not go unmentioned in the movie is that of hard work and determination to succeed in life. Honesty is another theme that could not go unnoticed in the movie.

Though this came at the end, to me it's the central theme of the movie. The movie was also full of suspense and like I said earlier, I would love to see it over and again. Also, we can see a working system in the movie, a system that can detect a fake certificate is a work system. Also, a system that is strict with corruption is a good system. Also, strictness is another theme as can be seen in the way the society frowned at the possession of fake certificates and not only that, I love the way Ragavan boss was strict in her judgment towards her son.

Also, the pictures and the cinematography of the movie couples with the musicals and dancing made the movie outstanding.

I would like to rate the movie 9/10.
