Disappointment turned appointment

The word disappointment is a strong word to behold and this is because of no other thing than those things associated or attached to it. Such things include sadness, frustration or bad feelings.

The word disappointment can be said to be the feelings of sadness, frustration, or dissatisfaction when something did not meet our expectations or hopes.

So, going by this simple assertion, the word disappointment has nothing good in it as there's more harm than good in it. Though, some believe that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise which might be true at times, but in most cases, not every disappointment is a blessing. There's some form of disappointment that has led to some people's downfall, some has led people to depression, even some are now dead as a result of disappointment. It all depends on the side of the coin of disappointment we found ourselves.

Sometimes, the word disappointment can be in two ways as someone can be disappointed at another person which has to do with being disappointed at the person's specific action or behavior or in a person which also have to do with the person's personal character, value or identity. Though, that's not actually where we are going in this discussion, but just to let's know it's in two ways.

So, the word disappointment can be in any form, be it the emotional form, social form, financial form, healthwise and so on. But one thing I want us to know is that disappointment is disappointment no matter the form.

Now, back to the prompt's topic, let me ask myself these simple questions. Have I in any way been disappointed? The answer is a capital YES. Have I disappointed others? The answer is also YES. In response to the questions I have just asked, I have been disappointed and have also disappointed others too. I have failed people in one day or the other, most especially when I let them down through my character.

There's even one that happened recently when I promised to my younger brother that I would help him pay up his school fee, but when the time came, I couldn't. Though not intentionally, but because of the unforeseen circumstances that came up at that time. That's a big disappointment on my part. Though I was able to return the money to him afterwards, it didn't meet his expectations when he needed it most.

Also, I have also been disappointed in my life. I have really had a series of experiences when it comes to disappointment but because of time, I would only share with us one of my disappointment experiences that pained me to my marrow. But before then, one thing I want us to know is that, we only get disappointed by those close to us and vice versa.

My disappointing experience that pained me most was the one I had after my secondary school education. Then, I had nobody as I have just lost my mum who used to be there for me anytime, any day. Though, she too disappointed me, but not intentionally as she had promised me that she would see me through my educational journey in life, but the cold hand of death prevented her from meeting up with her promise which later resulted in her disappointing me unintentionally.

But aside from her own unintended disappointment, there's another person that disappointed me, this person in question is the manager of the company I worked for. After all, my hope of pursuing my academics was lost after the demise of my mum. So, it all started when I joined a construction company that the manager called me to his office where we had discussions about everything that led me to working at the company. It's after I had narrated everything to him that he promised to keep a tab on me and helped me to save part of my earnings at the end of every month, which I obliged to without any form of delay.

So, no sooner than later and as day went by, I started saving my money with the manager at the end of every month with the hope and the strong feeling that my money was saved with him. So, when the time to use the money for the purpose of saving it came, I went to the manager to asked for my saving, but lo and behold, the manager could not account for all I have saved with him for a year and half, I was so angry and disappointed with no hope at sight, so, I went to report him to the MD of the company who said, he has nothing to say as he was not aware of the deal and discussion between I and the manager beforehand.

So, I left the Managing director's office in tears and my heart was full of disappointment. So, on getting home, I related what happened to my dad who back then was not buoyant enough to sponsor my education and after I have related this with him, he promised to go to the manager himself, but on his getting to the man, the man denied I was saving with him and even asked me to bring the record of the savings which I tendered, but he still denied it after all. And that was what stopped me from working with the company till today.

So, after I have left the company, I put in for another work somewhere else and this time around a teaching job and lo and behold, the proprietor of the school took my matter up and helped me to enroll for a part time degree program with him paying part of the money. Though I was still working in his school and collecting my salary in full, he never used that against me and that was how I was able to pursue my educational career without any stress. Now I'm on for my master degree program, but God has really used the proprietor for me after being disappointed. So, I was able to handle the disappointment with the help of God and the proprietor who came in at the right time to help me.
