Consistency||the key to success

Consistency is one thing that can help one to acquire success in life. Without consistency, making headway can be difficult.

Consistent people are often determined to succeed. I have seen people doing great in their field just because of how consistent they are. Also, I have seen people doing great but of a sudden, they stopped doing what they have been doing which has been making them great and everything went off immediately they stopped.

Some of these people even tried to continue with what they have been doing before, but they couldn't find their rhythm again. That's the power of consistency.

So, consistency which is from the root word consistent is a word that has to do with regular occurrence. So, doing things consistently has the advantage of making us known with that thing and by doing so, we are doing.

Sometimes ago, I was so consistent in the buying and selling of palm oil from the village to the end users. In fact, I was well known with the business of people that use my shop to describe the street when boarding taxis or motorcycles. Some of them will tell the bike man that when you get to where they are selling palm oil, you've gotten to where you are going.

I was well-known for my palm oil business. In fact, because of the overwhelming number of customers patronage, I needed to employ more hands to come and assist me with the business, which later made my operation very easy for me.

But along the line, when a friend of mine came visiting and saw how the business was moving and was very excited to see me doing well in the business. On this particular day, we wine and dined together before he left.

So, when it's night, he called to thank me for giving him a good treat in the afternoon. Afterwards, he asked if I'm interested in partnering with him in his pig farming business. I told him I didn't know much about the business, but he promised to teach me and show me how to go about it. He said, though, he would be the one doing, but he would still teach and show me how it's being run.

It's then I told him I would be thinking about it. The next morning, he called to ask if I had thought about it, but I told him to give me more time as I didn't want to jump into what I have no idea of.

But after thinking about it thoroughly, I decided to give the idea a chance and then I called him. When I told him of my intention to partner with him, he was happy and he asked us to meet. It's at our scheduled meeting that we finalize our plans in which I would be the major financier of the business and he would be the one doing it with a 60-40 sharing plan.

We started this and it started well, but I was really pumping my money into it. But it got to a time that my new partnership business was affecting my own personal business which later led to me closing down the business. Though, it's painful, but I had to leave it like that.

But thank God, the partnership was paying off as both of us were really doing fine for the first year of our startup.

So, going into the second year, things went bad, not as a result of the other person doing bad, but because of the rampage of the swine flu that got all our pigs killed. This incident almost ruined my life as I went into depression having lost all my investments but with the help of God and a friend, I was able to recover.

It's with the help of this friend of mine that I was able to raise capital again to start my former palm oil business which I have been known for for years. But when I started the business again, it wasn't like what it used to be back then. As there was low patronage.

Those people who were my customers back then had left for other sellers and I was like a novice starting all over again. All this was as a result of my inconsistency in what I was best known for.

Though I am determined not to quit this time around, it's not as rosy as it was in my first spell of doing the business. But I believe with strong will and determination to be consistent and not be distracted this time around, I would do more than before.

So, to me consistency is actually the soul of a business and when we are being regular in what we do, we will surely succeed and excel in it.
