Known for their unique taste and rich health benefits, they are an excellent choice for anyone looking to prepare a wholesome, plant-based curry that’s both hearty and flavorful. Today, let’s transform this humble ingredient into a delicious and nutritious curry that reflects the depth of our local culinary heritage. Packed with fiber, this dish is highly beneficial for digestion and overall well-being. So, let’s find out how to prepare this wonderful dish, step by step!
Ingredients...
⭐️ 1 medium-sized banana flower.
⭐️ 1 1/2 Cup of coconut milk.
⭐️ Curry leaves.
⭐️ 2 finely chopped green chilies.
⭐️ 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped.
⭐️ 2 cinnamon sticks.
⭐️ A finely chopped onion.
⭐️ 1 Teaspoon of Chili powder.
⭐️ 2 Teaspoon of Roasted curry powder.
⭐️ 1/2 teaspoon of Fenugreek seed.
⭐️ 1/2 Teaspoon of curry powder.
⭐️ 1/2 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
⭐️ Salt as needed.
⭐️ 2 Tablespoon of Coconut oil.
The order of preparation.
First, take the banana flower and cut it into slightly larger pieces as shown in the pictures below. Then, add it to salted water. After that, squeeze out the water thoroughly and set it aside.
Next, take a pan and place it on the stove. Add about two tablespoons of coconut oil to the pan. Once the oil is heated, add fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, cinnamon, sliced onions, and salt. Sauté these ingredients on low heat for about 1½ minutes until fragrant.
Next, add chili powder, curry powder, roasted curry powder, turmeric powder, and salt powder to the pan. Mix everything well together.
Next, add the chopped banana flower pieces to the pan and mix well. Allow it to cook in the oil for about 3 to 4 minutes.
Finally, add a little coconut milk and cook for about 5 minutes. Then, remove the pan from the heat.
This banana flower curry is not only a nutritious addition to your meals but also a traditional dish passed down through generations. When served warm with rice or roti, it becomes more than just food — it becomes a cherished experience. Try making it at home and share the goodness with your loved ones.
Until the next recipe, wishing you all joyful cooking and good health.
