Let's make delicious sweets for tea time.(Naran Kawum).
Good evening to all my dear Hive friends — how are you all doing?
Bringing a refreshing twist to the traditional "Kalu Kevum" passed down through generations, this Mandarin-flavored Kevum (Naran Kevum) recipe adds a whole new dimension of taste. Infused with the classic flavor of Kevum, blended with caramelized coconut sweetness, and enriched with the mung beens powder and softness of ground sesame seeds, this version turns a simple tea-time treat into a celebration at home. Let’s explore how to prepare this delightful fusion that not only pleases the palate but also preserves our cultural heritage.
Ingredients...
⭐️ 1 1/2 Cup of rice flour .
⭐️ 1/2 Roasted and powdered peanut powder.
⭐️ 1/2 Cup of sugar.
⭐️ 1 Cup of Grated Coconut.
⭐️ Coconut oil for frying.
⭐️ Some hot water.
⭐️ A pinch of salt.
The order of preparation.
First, we need to prepare a sugar caramel mixture. To do this, take a pan and place it over the stove on medium heat. Once it's heated, add some sugar and allow it to melt and turn into a golden-brown caramel. When it begins to caramelize, carefully add the required amount of hot water. Then, add the remaining sugar and let it continue to caramelize until fully dissolved and thickened.
Next, add the grated coconut, sugar, rice flour, and crushed sesame seeds into the mixture.
Mix everything together thoroughly until you get a smooth, well-combined consistency.
Next, shape the mixture into small balls.
After that, we need to prepare a batter to coat the balls. To do this, take a bowl and add about 1/2 cup of rice flour. Then add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water while mixing to form a batter with a slightly thick consistency.
Next, place a pan on the stove and add coconut oil to it. Once the oil is heated, dip the prepared mandarin kavum balls in the batter, then carefully add them to the pan. Fry until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
These mandarin kavum add a delightful twist to your tea table, offering a treat rich in flavor and aroma. The blend of sweet caramel and fruity mandarin fragrance makes them perfect to enjoy with your loved ones. By giving a new life to a traditional delicacy, may this recipe inspire you to create more joyful moments in your kitchen.
