THE REALITY OF LOVE
Love is the most beautiful feeling in the universe and most times it lack a basic definition that is aligned with it. It is a phenomenon that we experience as human beings when our emotions are stirred in a particular direction towards someone or something that brings us joy, happiness, a sense of comfort, peace of mind and sometimes a reason to push on and be a better version of ourselves.
They say love is blind but to a certain extent I don't think it is, because your eyes are very much wide open to see who you're having that affection for and also the degree of emotional attraction that you have for that person. There are times when we go to extreme lengths just to please our lovers and partner which is a very beautiful thing, but can you make that same sacrifice in the name of love for the sake of your future generations and kids?

Talking about sacrifices and love, what will you do when you find out on your wedding day that you and your wife to be are both carriers of sickle cell? Will you go ahead with the wedding for the sake of love or will you end the wedding for the sake of your future generations. This can be a very tricky question especially if you're the one facing such challenge but it is also simple at the same time because you have to look at the bigger picture rather than being overwhelmed with emotions at that moment.
If am going to speak sincerely, I will end the wedding right there and then before it becomes more complicated in the future. Just as I said before, love is beautiful but I cannot jeopardize the lives of my children and their generations in the future just because of a foolish mistake or decision that I took. Today I am alive healthy and breathing because of some decisions my parent took when they were dating before getting married especially in regards to genotype, so why should I deprived my children the privilege of having a normal, happy, fun and healthy life.
I lost a friend of mine while I was in secondary school due to sickle cell disease and it was very painful and frustrating to see. He was a very bright guy, jovial, fun to be with and always wanted to enjoy the best life has to offer but he was denied that opportunity by natural cause and effect that the universe decided and his parents had nothing to do about it at that stage. Thinking about it now I will say his enthusiasm about enjoying life to the fullest might have stem from the fact that he knew his condition well enough to ascertain his chance's of survival.
Sickle cell is a very deadly disease that can be avoided when we do the right thing regardless of how painful our decisions might be. I have seen newly wedded couples that neglected advice on their decision to marry each other because of the high probability of giving birth to children with sickle cell and they stand their ground saying that as long as they love each other nothing is impossible.
For me, it's better I end the relationship or wedding there than to spend some decade subjecting my children to severe health deficiency.
I appreciate you taking your time to read
I love your decision and that is the right decision, many people that make that kind of wrong decision has not see how sickle cell carriers suffer, if they see one, no one will tell them before they run.
Sickle cell is very dangerous and should be avoided by all means regardless of anything.
It's better to have a happy future due to sacrifice than to have a painful future because of love.
Thank you for engaging @toluwanih
There's a saying "If you think love is blind, reality will sure open your eyes". If you build your life based on feelings, you will be doomed with the repercussions. It's best to make right decisions whether convenient or inconvenient, as long as they'll make life better..
A better life of comfort that comes as a result of the right decisions is better than anything.
