Las Palomas Park and some surroundings / Parque de las palomas y algunos alrededores

Hello dear travelers, this time I bring you a super curious virtual trip, it's about how I stopped a little more in the beauties of one of the most well-known squares in Havana, the Plaza de San Francisco or also known as the Parque de las palomas.

This was not my first visit to the place, I had already visited it other times but maybe because I was not exactly a tourist but on the contrary I did not stop much at its beauties, without a doubt the magnificent thing about the park can be seen from very far away and is that just because it is a place where pigeons go to eat and are taken care of it is already a tremendous attraction.

The square is surrounded by many important facilities, such as the Lonja del Comercio, a building that is currently operated by State departments and dedicating only one floor for the installation's own themes. Undoubtedly this center is one of the most outstanding in the square, its architecture is very imposing, elegant, striking and manages to catch all visitors.

On one side there is one like a wall with a free way to all the facilities that surround the Havana Port, these have been under maintenance for a long time, I know because last year when I visited the capital it was also under repair. Anyway the views are also lovely.

Other of the nearby places is in the Café del Oriente Restaurant, I have never sat down to eat or drink anything, but what I am sure of and without underestimating that they do not honor the Orient, I said it. Regarding this topic I have many comparisons between the Havana food and the Santiaguera, but well... we have to accept that I really liked the architecture of the bar.

Focusing more on the square... the center they chose deserves a 10/10. It is a piece that transmits a lot to me, I can't explain it with words but it really fascinates. The way she represents a conversation between two and the spaces in the body is amazing.

At the bottom of the square there is a place dedicated to Masses and on its walls some religious pieces are exposed such as a cross and the representation of a father and son holding another cross. Its walls also reveal the name of the square and part of its history, I think this installation has a lot to do with the park and its roots.

At the front there is a fountain that was unfortunate that I could not find it working. Its design is very original and the intention of placing the lions on top gives the impression that they keep something very precious.

At the other end of the park there is a bench with a bronze statue that although it is attractive to take pictures and such, it is very dangerous, because, I sat down on it quickly to take a picture and I discovered that beyond the gallantry of the gentleman who remains seated the Sun radiates so much there that even when the bench is kept it keeps burning, I even screamed about how hot I was 😂🥲.

The square also lets you see glimpses of a perpendicular street that despite deviating has many charms to match the architecture and history of the Plaza San Francisco itself, an example of this is a train parked and used as a museum that is very related.

This street has no more than that, it just reconnects you with the pigeon park, these birds fly and fly all day long but in the end they return to the park, something about this that fascinated me was to see how workers there facilitate that children also take part and feed the birds, too bad I couldn't take a photo.

Hola estimados viajeros, en esta ocasión les traigo un viaje virtual súper curioso, va de cómo me detuve un poco más en las bellezas de una de las plazas más conocidas de La Habana, la Plaza de San Francisco o también conocida como el Parque de las palomas.

Esta no fue mi primera visita al lugar, ya lo había visitado otras veces pero quizás como no iba precisamente de turista sino todo lo contrario no detuve mucho en sus bellezas, sin duda alguna lo magnífico del parque se puede ver desde muy lejos y es que solo con que sea un lugar donde las palomas van a comer y son cuidadas ya es un atractivo tremendo.

La plaza, está rodeada de muchas instalaciones importantes, como es el caso de La Lonja del comercio, un edificio que actualmente está funcionado por departamentos del Estado y dedicando sólo un piso para los temas propios de la instalación. Sin duda alguna este centro es de los que más destaca en la plaza, su arquitectura es muy imponente, elegante, llamativa y logra atrapar a todos los visitantes.

A un costado está una como un muro con vía libre a todas las instalaciones que rodean el Puerto Habanero, estas están en mantenimiento hace un buen tiempo, lo se porque el año pasado cuando visité la capital también estaba en reparación. De todas formas las vistas también son encantadoras.

Otros de los sitios aledaños está en el Restaurante Café del Oriente, nunca me he sentado a comer ni a tomar nada, pero de lo que sí estoy segura y sin subestimar a que no le hacen honor a Oriente, lo dije. Con respecto a este tema tengo muchas comparaciones entre la comida habanera y la santiaguera, pero bueno… hay que aceptar que me gustó mucho la arquitectura del bar.

Enfocándome más en la plaza… el centro que escogieron se merece un 10/10. Es una pieza que me transmite muchísimo, no puedo explicarlo con palabras pero de verdad fascina. La forma en la que representa una conversación entre dos y los espacios en el cuerpo es increíble.

En el fondo de la plaza hay un lugar dedicado a misas y en sus paredes se exponen algunas piezas religiosas como es una cruz y la representación de un padre e hijo sosteniendo otra cruz. Sus paredes también revelan el nombre de la plaza y parte de su historia, creo que esta instalación tiene mucho que ver con el parque y sus raíces.

Al frente se encuentra una fuente que fue lamentable que no pude encontrarla funcionando. Su diseño es muy original y la intención de colocar los leones encima da la impresión que ellos guardan algo muy preciado.

En otro extremo del parque hay un banco con una estatua de bronce que pese a ser atractiva para tomarse fotos y tal, es muy peligrosa, pues, me senté en ella rápidamente para sacarme una foto y descubrí que más allá de la galantería del caballero que permanece sentado el Sol irradia tanto allí que hasta cuando se guarda el banco sigue que quema, hasta grité de lo caliente que estaba 😂🥲.

La plaza también te deja ver atisbos de una calle perpendicular que a pese a desviarse tiene muchos encantos a juego con la propia arquitectura e historia de la plaza San Francisco, ejemplo de esto es un tren estacionado y utilizado como museo que guarda mucha relación.

Esta calle no tiene más allá de eso, solo que te vuelve a conectar con el parque de las palomas, dichas aves vuelen y vuelan en todo el día pero al final regresan al parque, algo sobre esto que me fascinó fue ver cómo trabajadores de allí mismo facilitan que los niños también formen parte y alimenten las aves, lástima que no pude sacar una foto.
