For a long time now, chess players have been supported by @jaki01, @stayoutoftherz, and @schamangerbert mainly. we have all benefited from their tournaments and support over the years on the blockchain.

As a lover of chess and strong supporter of Hive, I've took it upon myself to kickstart an initiative with @sam.chess, onboarding chess players to Hive as a means to boost the activities in the chess community and so far the project has been a success.

I've onboarded two International chess masters and several strong chess players which you can see from the performance of the Blockchain Chess Team in the Liga Team Battle. You can check my blog @samostically for more updates on our performances in the Liga Chess Battle.

The Next Phase

We are in the next phase of the project, and it is the start of my weekly chess tournament on the blockchain.

Aside from the weekly chess tournament, courtesy of certain lovers of the game, promotion of quality posts as a means to support chess players who deliver quality and original content will be mainstream.

This is because I know most chess players who are already posting content, do not do it just for the reward, but for the love of the game. Also, I know it can be quite cumbersome to analyze a chess game and post it, so it's only fair to support such content.

Thanks to our sponsors, this initiative has gradually turned into a reality.

About the Weekly Tournament

The weekly chess tournament will be held every Saturday, starting with the first Saturday in July:

The prize pool for this tournament is a minimum of 60 Hive but it is subject to review if there are more sponsors or upvotes on our post, it can be increased further. But for sustainability and consistency, it will be fixed at 60 Hive for now with the prize list as follows:

1st - 10 Hive
2nd - 8 Hive
3rd - 7 Hive
4th - 5 Hive
5th - 2.5 Hive
6th - 2.5 Hive
7th - 2.5 Hive
8th - 2.5 Hive
Biggest Upset - 5 Hive
U2000 - 5 Hive
U1800 - 5 Hive
U1500 - 5 Hive

Sandbagging and cheating will lead to disqualification from the tournament and forfeiture of the prize back into the prize pool for the next round.

There would be three posts done on this account weekly. First would be the reminder post for this tournament, second would be the report after the tournament and third would be analysis and showcase of special games from the tournament. Players that their games feature on the analysis post would share a part of the beneficiary for that post.

You can drop your post on the post promotion channel, and get support for your quality content. Also, I have created my curation trail that will also help in supporting chess players who create quality content. You can join the trail by clicking this link.

Now chess players can dish out quality chess content aside from only playing chess, and get rewarded for their content. This is just an additional support as we already have @chessbrotherspro & @stayoutoftherz and @jaki01 support.

Note that these Contents should follow the rules:

• Original content only.

• No plagiarism or AI-generated stuff.

• If the image is generated by AI, it should be properly started and sourced.

• Images should be sourced properly if they are obtained from the internet.

• At least two images on the post. Exceptions being a chess puzzle.

• Follow the community’s posting rules and use the appropriate tags for your posts.

• Engagement in other posts in the community

If you go against these rules, your post will be not be supported. You can also get muted for breaking these rules.

We will have nice prompts for chess players to have what they can write about and post in the chess community.
