Fallopian tube histology
Hello everyone, how are you all? I hope you all are doing well and i am too. Today i would like to tell about fallopian tube histology. Before going to see its histology first we have to know why we fallopian tubes are sent for histopathological examination.
The most common reason is for family planning. It means sterilisation. If the couple doesn't wants children anymore they will undergo sterilisation and the fallopian tubal bits are on both side are removed either during surgery or later also the surgery can be open or laporoscopic. The other caus that we will received fallopian tube is when they do surgery related to neoplastic conditions like cervical or endometrial ovarian carcinoma they will remove fallopian or nonneoplastic conditions like fibroid or abnormal bleeding manifestations or any other causes. So we need to confirm fallopian tube on histology if they sent after doing sterilisation procedure and have to see any cancer cells.
The histology of fallopian.
The fallopian tube has lumen and surrounded by fibromuscular tissue. The fallopian tube has mucosa, lamina propia, muscularis and serosa. The mucosa is thrown into plicae into the lumen and is lined by 4 types of cells ciliated columnar epithelium, secretory cells, peg cells and basal cells.

See the lumen and fibromuscular tissue surrounding it and some blood vessels are embedded in it to supply the fallopian tube.

Now you can see the mucosa is thrown into plicae and is lined by ciliated columnar cells and secretory epithelium which are predominant and other two cells which are peg cells and basal cells are less in number.

I have shared some other images also
This is how the fallopian tube looks like on microcopy. Hope you understood. Will come with new interesting post.
