A day in the Endoscopy room

Hello everyone, how are you all? Its been one week i think that i am away from hive and you and i hope you ppl are doing great and i too. I am in rotational postings and some people call it as peripheral postings which are in other departments. I have been posted in radiology for 5 days and obstetrics and gynecology 5 days both are over radiology i have seen pigtail catheter procedure to collect ascitic fluid and renal biopsy and i will explain about in other post and next i am posted in endoscopy to see procedures like endoscopic biopsies, colonoscopic biopsies. Today i would like to share about my experience in endoscopy room.
I went at 8:45 AM itself without any breakfast and waiting for Hod sir and i asked DEO he told sir is on leave so i was waiting for another faculty but came to to know that mam is also on leave so i met one assistant professor sir and sir has read letter was shocked seeing only 3 days posted in endoscopy room and asked me what you will learn in 3 days that too saturday is a half day and sunday in holiday even i also felt sad. Sir told me to go inside endoscopy room and see procedures how they are doing and what instruments they are using and all. I entered inside i showed same letter to sir sir who is in endoscopy room and sir said ok and and nursing officers and one MNO was preparing everything for the procedure. I was looking the room what are the things are there and this is Endoscopy room

Endoscopy room

The room has one bed for the patient to lie down and you can see there is screen where it will display with when doing the procedure and sockets for endoscope to connect. The one i have seen is the forward view esophagogastrodudeno endoscope ( don't worry we will learn about endoscopes in one post). You can also see there is a computer with printer where gastroenterologist will type the report and take out the print out. There is also one display showing pulse, RR ,BP all to check patients vitals and if patient feels discomfort and not well. There is operating light/surgical light which is on the left side top. Do you know what is the company of it?? You will wonder if you see it. You will come to know keep reading.

The table is aseptic to keep gloves and wear gloves and to keep the endoscope or colonscope which is sterilised. There is a hanger you can see where some wire like things are hanging and those are biopsy instruments. The endoscope has side port where these biopsy forceps are inserted into this side port and it will reach to pathological site or site where we ant to take biopsy and we will take biopsy from it. There is one glass room which contains endoscopes and colonoscopes to keep. There are dustbins which are color coded and one day we can discuss why they are color coded and what its importance.

The operating light company name is my name only its Simeon . In our institute all operation theatres have this operating lights so whenever i go to OT i wonder. Happy to see my name there.
