Me olvide de soltar/ I forgot to let go [Esp-Eng]

Me recordé que esta semana hemos tenido en nuestra urbanización y en el circulo de amistades dos fallecimientos. Una persona mayor que no estaba enferma y un joven que le dio un infarto en plena fiesta de cumpleaños.

I was reminded that this week we've had two deaths in our neighborhood and among our circle of friends. An elderly person who wasn't ill, and a young man who suffered a heart attack during a birthday party.

Aunque el tema puede abarcar diferentes aspectos como el no soltar los problemas y repetirlos en nuestra mente una y otra vez, también nos toca recordar aquellas personas que se han marchado de nuestro lado y no las hemos soltado de nuestras mentes.

Y miren que a una madre le cuesta soltar, siempre han sido el centro que manejaba todo, los desayunos, los uniformes y hasta las entregas de las tareas. Y llego un momento que todo eso simplemente creció y ya no estaba. Y nosotras como madres se nos olvido que debemos soltar pero no olvidar.

While the topic can encompass different aspects, such as not letting go of problems and replaying them in our minds over and over, we must also remember those who have left our lives and whom we haven't let go of.

And you know how hard it is for a mother to let go. They've always been the center of everything: breakfasts, uniforms, even homework assignments. And then there came a time when all of that simply grew up and was no longer there. And we, as mothers, forgot that we must let go, but not forget.

Algo tan simple como los cambios nos marcan una pauta para el crecimiento y adaptarnos. El detalle está en ir marcando el camino y creciendo con ellos. Parece que que nos olvida que ya no son niños y que ya no tenemos que estar en su propio apartamento recogiendo la docena de tazas al lado de la computadora. Que difícil nos resulta soltar.

Cargar a veces con los recuerdos dolorosos de lo que nos hicieron otras personas se vuelve una carga muy pesada. Recordar un evento una y otra vez nos dificultara el olvidarlo, al contrario agregara a ese momento soluciones que no tuvimos a la mano.

Como les comentaba cada persona cargara los pesos en formas diferentes, algunas la vida los trata amablemente y las dificultades les resultan ligeras. Otros tendrán cargas más fuertes, dolores en el cuerpo y perdidas familiares, eso hará que la persona clame por el cese de sus dificultades pronto. Todos pasamos por ello, la forma en que llevamos las cargas nos hará ver diferentes.

Something as simple as change sets a pattern for growth and adaptation. The key is to guide them along the way and grow with them. It seems we forget that they're not children anymore and that we no longer have to be in their apartment picking up a dozen cups next to the computer. How difficult it is for us to let go.

Sometimes carrying the painful memories of what others did to us becomes a very heavy burden. Recalling an event over and over makes it harder to forget; on the contrary, it adds solutions to that moment that we didn't have at hand.

As I mentioned, each person carries burdens differently. For some, life treats them kindly, and difficulties seem light. Others will have heavier burdens, physical pain, and family losses, which will make them yearn for their difficulties to end soon. We all go through it; the way we carry our burdens makes us look different.

Todavía tengo cosas por soltar principalmente relacionadas con la convivencia en mi Venezuela. Creo que si contamos nuestra historia de como vivimos las dificultades nos ayudara a soltar más rápido y dejarlo ir.

I still have things to let go of, mainly related to living in Venezuela. I think that if we share our stories of how we experienced hardship, it will help us let go more quickly and move on.

A veces quisiera tener de todo tipo de flores y plantas, pero cuando llego cansada de trabajar y tengo que cargar envases para regarlas, me alegro de poder dejarlas ir. Regalarlas es una forma de dejarlas ir, es como un ejercicio de fuerza mayor que he aprendido a desarrollar.

Sometimes I wish I had all kinds of flowers and plants, but when I get home tired from work and have to carry containers to water them, I'm glad I can let them go. Giving them away is a way of letting go; it's like an exercise in strength that I've learned to develop.
