Some moments spent in nature

As a one-day street journalist, our topic this week is the struggle of street vendors. Nowadays, there are a lot of street vendors standing on the streets. There are many types of vendors among them, some sell shoes, some sell clothes, and some sell fruits from small shops. As the topic of this week's competition, I have chosen a small fruit shop. Which is located in a small place in the middle of our market, adjacent to the school. This shop has been here for a long time, not just now.

My topic today is about the life struggle of hawkers, led by @max-pro . Today I will discuss about the fruit shop. Actually, although this fruit shop is small, you can buy fruits here according to your ability. So let's start answering each question without delay.

What places have you visited and what types of hawker businesses have you reviewed?

In fact, many types of hawkers can be seen in a market. But today I have selected a small fruit shop. The shop has almost all kinds of fruits. Especially the fruits that are available in season are also available in Srijan. In this shop, you will find apples, mangoes, bananas, dragon fruits, pears, pomegranates, guavas. And you will find the fruits that are available in Srijan during the season here very easily.

Today I first went to the market. Then from there I went straight to a small fruit shop. Actually I needed to buy some fruits. First I went with him and asked him how long he has been here. Although I see that he has been selling fruits here for many years. However, after talking to him later, he told me that he has been selling fruits here for almost the last four years. However, his life struggle is much more difficult. The life of a fruit shopkeeper becomes most difficult when the fruits start spoiling. The price at which they buy the fruits. Then when the fruits suddenly spoil. Then it becomes a very difficult matter for them.

02 Have you ever bought anything from these stores? Show pictures + videos and show prices.

To be honest, I have bought fruits from this shop not once but many times. And as far as I have seen, we can buy fruits from here according to our needs. In simple words, if I say that a person wants to buy an apple or needs an apple according to his ability. Then you can buy an apple from this shop and eat it very easily. Since my younger son was sick, I went with him to buy fruits. First of all, I bought malta, guava, banana, dragon fruit.

1 kg of malta 400 BDT
1 kg of guava 100 BDT
Two dozen bananas 200 BDT
1 kg of dragon fruit 200 BDT

But from what I saw, you can get fruits at a lower price in this shop than in other shops in the market. For example, when I asked at another shop in the market how much the product costs for 1 kg, I was told 420 taka. But I bought it from here for 400 taka and guava was selling for 120 taka. I bought dragon fruit from here for 100 taka and it was selling for 250 taka. Then after talking to him, I bought 200 taka per kg and 120 taka per dozen bananas but I bought two dozen for 200 taka.

03 How do they face sidewalk occupation, eviction, or police harassment?

After talking to the man, I understood that it was because of occupying the sidewalk or using this place. They have faced police harassment not once but many times. Especially when the movement started last year. At that time, it can be said that they were thrown out of here. The students beat them up a lot and stole their belongings. Which was a very bad thing for them. That time was very difficult and painful for us.

Then, two months ago, he faced police harassment again. He was asked to pay tax for this place, he paid the tax but was not given any receipt for it. Due to which the police came again and harassed him and took extra money from him. Which is honestly a very surprising thing. How much money does a person earn daily or how much money is sold on the sidewalk. If government officials or police harass them like this, then how difficult their life is. We, as common people, will understand that only if we understand a little.

04 What are their biggest challenges and hopes in continuing this business?

The biggest challenge they face in running this business is that for many, it is not possible to survive here. Especially when students or big leaders talk about why they have occupied this place, why they have used this sidewalk, then they have to face a big challenge. Many people leave the business because they cannot do this. But I think when you face a challenge, it is not trying to solve the problem. Talk to them.

When you face this challenge and try to solve the problems. Then you will definitely be able to continue your business effortlessly. Another thing is police harassment. Along with this, you have to have immense patience to sustain a business. Without patience, it is never possible to survive in this business. The biggest hope is that people try to grow up from a young age. But they cannot suddenly grow up or become a big businessman. To become a businessman, they have to run their business from a small place.
