“A trip to Cienfuegos” / Un viaje a Cienfuegos. ESP-ENG

Hello everyone!! It’s been a while since I posted about a new place here, mostly because I haven’t been to many lately. But recently I took a trip to Cienfuegos—a truly beautiful Cuban city.

This trip was for work, since I had to accompany the improvisers with my guitar. We were doing a clash between repentistas (traditional Cuban improvisers) and freestylers (rap). This show was started by Oralitura a few years ago, and now whenever there’s an improviser clash, they call me to accompany the repentistas—which makes me very happy.

The trip began on the street near the accommodations. The hosts were incredibly kind and made us feel right at home!

On this avenue, there’s a photo of Benny Moré. I thought I had taken a picture of that part of the street, but it’s only halfway—sorry 😭 I really wanted to show you the maestro.

Also, on the walk to the theater, there was a boulevard that deserves a shoutout for being super clean. In Havana, many streets are filled with trash, so seeing the beautiful boulevard in Cienfuegos was refreshing. Just a few blocks away is the Cienfuegos park.

This event took place at the Tomás Terry Theater—a stunning colonial theater. I don’t have photos of the dressing rooms, but they still had wooden decorations, a cozy loft to sit in, beautiful armchairs, a matching dresser, and a wooden wall to hide the bathroom.

Above the stage and seating area, the theater has a massive painting that reflects the opulence with which it was built. It has witnessed countless plays and performances over the years.

The show went really well and we enjoyed it a lot. I’m not in the photos from the performance, since the instrumentalists are always behind the ring (which is designed to look like a boxing ring), but there are some group photos.

Hola a todos!! Hace mucho no publicaba acá algun lugar nuevo porque realmente no he ido a muchos. Pero hace poco hive un viaje a Cienfuegos. Una ciudad cubana que es realmente hermosa.

Este viaje lo hice por trabajo, ya que tenia que acompañar con la guitarra a los improvasidores, porque hariamos un choque de improvisadores (repentistas) y freestylers (rap) este show iniciado por Oralitura hace unos años del cual ahora cuando hay choques de improvisadores me llaman para acompañar a los repentistas cosa que me hace muy feliz

El viaje inicia en la calle, la avenida que estaba cerca de los hospedajes, dichos hospedajes con personas muy amables y muy hogareñas!

En esta avenida se encuentra la foto del beny Moré, a esta parte de la calle pensé que habia tirado foto pero esta a mitad lo siento😭 realmente queria mostrarles al maestro.

Tambien en la caminata hasta el teatro habia un boulevard que cabe destacar que esta super limpio, hay muchas calles en La Habana donde lo que mas habita es basura y se ve precioso el boulevard de cienfuegos y a unas cuadras se encuentra el parque de cienfuegos

Este evento sucedería en el teatro Tomas Terry. Un teatro colonial y tan hermoso. No tengo fotos de los camerinos pero todavía tenían las decoraciones de madera, un desván donde sentarse, unos sillones hermosos una cómoda igual de hermosa a juego y como una pared de madera para tapar el baño.

El teatro tiene encima en el techo de la parte del escenario y los asientos una pintura gigantesca demostrando la opulencia en la que se construyó este teatro siendo testigo ya de muchas obras de teatro y actuaciones.

El show nos fue muy bien y lo disfrutamos, en las fotos no salgo, al menos en las que estoy en el show ya que los instrumentistas siemore estamos en la parte de detras del ring que imita un ring de boxeo pero si hay fotos en conjunto.

La pasamos super bien el teatro es un sitio precioso, lugar que quisiera volver a visitar al igual que Cienfuegos
