How vaccine gave me a second chance at life
My own understanding of vaccine is that it is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting you against harmful disease, before you come into contact with them. It uses the body's natural defenses to build resistance to specific infection and makes the immune system stronger.
I've been administered a vaccine several times before but the only ones l could remember is the Oral route (PO), oral vaccine is administered through drops to the mouth, and the intranasal route (NAS), is administered into each nostril using a manufacturer filled nasal sprayer. So I would like to share an experience about vaccine.
When l was 3 to 4 years old l get sick a lot everytime one sickness or the other, measles, chicken pox apollo, small pox and fever the sickness got too much to the extent my mom and siblings started wondering if l'm sickle cell but then in my family both maternal and paternal no trace of sickle cell both my parents genotype are AA so what could possibly be the problem. This kept on going for so long till when l got to 7 years old, l had chicken pox again my mom had to take me to the hospital to know what was wrong, that was when the doctors discovered when l was a baby they didn't give me most of the vaccine for immunization, that is the main reason why l'm always getting sick. Immediately the doctor then advice my mom that she should take me to the health center for immunization it's never too late or else l could lose my life at a tender age due to sickness. So the next day she took me to the health center l registered and took the vaccine, since then even if l'm to get sick it wouldn't be that serious as it used to be. So what l'm l trying to say vaccination is really important to human lives as we shouldn't take it for granted.
Many people most especially parents have superstitious belief concerning vaccines some would say vaccine contains many harmful ingredients, vaccine can cause sudden infant death syndrome, all these things are not just true to me because without vaccine l wouldn't be where l am today. As for the pandemic COVID-19 vaccine is very effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalization and death, because the virus that causes COVID-19 continues to change, the vaccines are updated periodically to help fight the disease.
One advice l would like to give to everybody is that vaccine helps to protect children from many serious and potentially deadly disease, it also stop diseases from spreading to people who cannot have vaccine. If l didn't take vaccine when l was a child l wouldn't be alive today.
Thank you for taking time to read my post, hope to see you again @rukyig blog.
