The Thinker's Corner || Set Goals, Methods And Strategies
It's a New Year and with it comes a lot of goals, plans, and resolutions by a lot of people. Some people might feel they are lagging by not having a set goal at the moment but I think we should remember that the idea of setting goals for ourselves isn't to lock us into a mindset of either failure or success rather we should see it as a way of self-reflection. We should think about what we want to achieve and the steps needed to achieve it.
As the years began, just like other people on the blockchain, I also made plans and set goals that would help me grow on Hive which included making myself a better writer, growing my Hive power, increasing my reputation, engaging more with others, investing, and many more.
As much as we make plans, set goals, and have yearly resolutions, we should always have it at the back of our minds that things might not always turn out the way we want. So looking at the list of goals I have made for this year, I will take it one step at a time and tick the boxes but if for some reason(s) by the middle of the year, it doesn't look like I am getting any closer to my goal, I will first;
Take A Deep Breath
One of the things we should learn to do when we are not getting what we want is to take a deep breath to avoid getting frustrated. In cases like this, instead of wallowing in self-pity or feeling like a failure, I would rather re-strategize and think of other methods for achieving my set goals.
There are lots of things that could help me stay calm in times like this; Music, Recreational Activities, and Of course Food 😃😃😃
Identify The Underlying Cause And Re-Strategize
What am I doing wrong? What am I not getting? What do I need to improve on? etc. These are some of the things I would consider when going over my initial plans so I would know where to work. I would give myself another time frame to see if I can still achieve something.
Another thing I will do is to reach out to people, ask questions, and make use of any knowledge I have gained effectively. One of the things I learned from @dreemport last year is that "we will go far when we have a teem in our corner"
Go With My Backup Plan
I have learned from past years to always have a backup plan because we are humans and are prone to making mistakes which might not hinder lessons I have learned the previous year but with no pressure. I have studied myself and I know that there is no way I would get anything done when I am agitated, I might instead make things worse.
Sometimes "disappointments can turn out to be a blessing in disguise", as what we hoped for might not even work out in the long run and we can also learn to take new paths even if they deviate from our original plans.
Life is full of unexpected twists and turns and though, indeed, some "opportunities come only once", I still believe some things are never too late to start.

This is so right my dear, setting goals for yourself is to keep you grounded.
Sometimes things don't work for us the way we want, so having backup plans is a smart way to pick yourself up even when you fall
I am glad you agree. Thank you for stopping by.
From the first point you raised, I can already imagine how calm you will be even when there is a big storm. Haha. This is awesome.
I like the idea of taking a deep breath. That approach works well in all areas of life and that's usually an important moment when we give ourselves a little time to think well about what's going on.
I'm all about re-strategizing and we don't even have to wait till the middle of the year before adjusting our strategy. Hah. Whatever works is acceptable, as far as goal-setting is concerned.
Thanks so much for joining this challenge.
I want to say thank you so much for coming up with this initiative. It really got me putting on my thinking cap and also gave a self-reflection for me.
It is my pleasure joining in the challenge.
I immediately took in a deep breath once I read that first point. I felt it😀
Identifying root causes of problems or why headways aren't being made and napping out plans to change that is the first step to getting goals. Actually, anyone who takes the time to do that has already smashed his first goal
😀😀😀 I am glad you did. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.
Falling off course is something that happens. Not beating ourselves about it and rather re-strategising is the best response. Every man needs a team to function and go very far.
I totally agree. Thank you so much for coming around.
What a Powerful and educative post.
Thank you so much @rukkie, it was nice encountering this post of yours at the very beginning of this of this year. Thank you once again my friend

Knowing what works for us as individuals is very important as well as remembering that the year is actually a journey, not a destination. Whatever we meet on the way, we pass through and keep moving. And as you have rightly said, having a backup plan is a very good idea. From #dreemport.

Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate your time here.
Hehe, having backup plan is very important, unfortunately, most of us don't have it and it's the reason why we get so frustrated when things don't work out.
I love that method of taking a deep breath and relax, the truth is worrying won't solve the problem, it will add to it rather, so instead of beating ourselves, it's best we sit and look for the way out
#dreemport
Having a backup plan helps when we least expect during goal planning. We can't control life. We barely know what happens the next minute.
Therefore, the best thing to do is to make sure we don't let things get to us and do our best.
I totally agree. Thank you for your time here. It's highly appreciated.
You are welcome 😁
