The Outside World Can Wait || Finish The Tale #22

The plan was to wake up early for the sunrise hike, but everyone slept through five alarms and woke up at noon.

I was the first to open my eyes. I untangled myself from the sheets, feeling so tired. I yawned, stretching my hands over my head as I tried to stand up.

I walked into the restroom, slowly dragging my feet. I got in and splashed some water on my face.

I raised my head and noticed the sunlight shining into the room. I was confused seeing how the sun wasn't supposed to be shining that bright very early in the morning.

My friends and I were supposed to do something very early in the morning.

I rushed into the sitting room and my eyes darted to the wall clock. It reads “12:03pm”.

“What!!!”, I screamed.

I heard footsteps running towards me.

“What's wrong, rukkie? Why are you screaming?”, Didi asked, looking very disheveled.

I pointed to the wall clock. She looked at it and gave me a look that said “so what?”

Then it suddenly clicked! We were supposed to go hiking.

She went back into the room and woke up Simi who was still fast asleep, oblivious of things happening around her.

After shaking her two times consecutively, Simi finally opened her eyes, she sat up on the bed yawning and rubbing her eyes.

“Didn't you set the alarms Simi?” Didi asked, standing with her arms akimbo.

“What??”, she asked as she was trying to process what Didi was saying.

“Your phone, Didn't you set the alarms?” I asked.

“Of course I did”, she defended, seeing as we were giving her accusing looks.

She took her phone from the bed stand and showed us and we clearly saw that she did set five different alarms, with a 30- minute interval amongst them.

Which means we slept through all five alarms. We were so tired after all the work we did the previous day and foresaw that we might need help getting up on time the next day, that was why we had the alarm options in the first place.

But it turns out no amount of alarms could get through to the part of our brain which tells our body to rest after working all week.

Seeing as the hike was no longer an option, we decided to stay indoors, order in and listen to our body system telling us to take a well deserved rest.

We will plan better for another hiking adventure the following weekend.

Thank you for reading.

Your bodies needed the rest that is why the brain did not bother responding to the alarms.

You can't cheat nature 😂. Once the body is tired, it will take its much needed rest. If una like make una set 20 alarms, e no go work 😂😂.

Rest is good for the body o.
