Pic1000 : The Smell Of Rain

I have always disliked hot weather conditions because for starters, the heat messes with my skin and I would have to bathe often every day to make me feel refreshed and regain my sanity.

For some weeks now, it has been hot and humid all around. It was accompanied by excessive heat making me sweat a lot. I had to wear light clothing to make me a bit comfortable. I thought it would be better after some days but it seems the weather had other plans. The heat intensified making my skin itch at some point.

Every day I hope and pray for a change in the weather if possible rain to help cool the environment.

It got to a point that I had given up and resorted to using medicated powder to help lessen the prickly heat that had somehow started to appear on my skin. Then all of a sudden, I heard the sound of thunder and in no time, rain followed.

I couldn't help but jump up for joy as I looked up to the heavens and offered my thanks. I watched as the rain intensified immediately making the weather cold.

The change in the weather got me smiling. I always love the smell of rain and as I listened to it pattering down the roof, I looked outside my window and saw the trees outside smiling in appreciation as they welcomed the bliss accompanied by the rain.

I could see some leaves scattered on the floor outside my house and I watched as they embraced the comfort only rain can provide.

"Maybe the trees couldn't stand the heat as well", I wondered aloud.

The sight of the leaves swimming in the rain made me remember when I was very young. I remember how I and children my age would go outside and play in the rain without our parent's knowledge of course. We would all run around wearing shorts and chasing each other while the rain keeps falling down on us.

Now as an adult, I know I can't do that anymore but still, I longed to be like one of those leaves scattered on the ground. I Imagined just lying down there bathing in the rain while letting go of all my worries.

I can see leaves on the ground covered in water from the rain.

• What do you feel?

I am feeling calm and happy because I have always loved the smell of rain.
