Gender Means More~` Embracing Our Inner Personalities.

There is something I have noticed for a long time now and it is that people easily judge others without having to walk in their shoes. They believe they can give full details of the opposite gender but I always believe that you can't fully give an account of something unless you have experienced it yourself.

Whenever the case arises where there are gender talks, I have heard of some people mostly men who talk about how women have things easy. A friend of mine lamented one day that the day he knew that women are "lucky" was when he went for an interview. According to him, he was patiently waiting with some people and when it was time to start interviewing them, a man came with a lady and she they just went directly into the office of the interviewer and the lady got a job afterwards.

No one knew what might have happened or how she ended up getting the job but things like that should generalized because most women don't have things easy for themselves. Most women toil day and night to make a name for themselves.

Marriages in the early days will see a woman who keeps giving birth to only female children not stopping until she has a male child as that is believed to help her secure her marriage. But what if she doesn't have male children? Will she keep on giving birth to dozens of children?

I believe this mentality is the reason why some areas today are overpopulated. You will see some families having about eight children or more, all boys or all girls. What these people fail to realize is that both genders are very important and should be treated equally, it shouldn't always be a case of "Oh it's because she is a woman" or "It's because he is a man"

In the early days, women sure didn't have it easy as there was no gender equality. The rights and views of the female gender are constricted and the roles which was spelled out for them are to bear children and take care of the home. I once saw a movie where a man told a woman "It is such a shame that you were a woman, you would have made an excellent man". That statement made me laugh and now it gladdens my heart to see that things are no longer the way it was and women are now coming out, speaking up, and taking up several positions in different areas.

I think there is a lot of pressure on both genders. People should just be allowed to be themselves. Talks about men not supposed to have any form of emotion, as the show of emotion doesn't make them "manly" or a man not to be seen crying or pouring out their hearts even if it kills them should be abolished. The same goes for women who were supposed to "behave" in a certain manner. People should be allowed to be themselves.

Talk about roles in the family, while it remains that men are seen as the head and providers of the family, women's roles are also more than just taking care of the home. Women not only give emotional support to the family, but most women also work and support the family financially.

In terms of jobs or occupations, women who do heavy-lifting jobs are frowned upon as they are supposed to be "delicate" and only do jobs that do not require lots of stress, and men are also not supposed to do certain jobs as it doesn't make them look manly.

There is a guy a hair stylist in my area who styles only females' hair. When he started, many laughed at him, male and females inclusive as they believed his kind of job was meant for a female. Some people even went as far as spreading bad things about him, I couldn't even begin to imagine how he must have felt back then. He might have felt the need to quit at what point or the other but I am glad he didn't allow people's displeasure to get to him because it paid off. Now his business has expanded as he has lots of apprentices, both males and females with lots of customers.

This is to tell you that no gender is at an advantage as no one is having it easy. A gender is more than a person, we mean more. So we should all learn to embrace our inner personalities. We all have our goals and dreams and we should be allowed to pursue them without any form of discrimination.

So my conclusion on this is that both genders, either males or females should continue to work to leave their mark on the world.
