The beach day was going perfectly—until the sandcastle started talking back.

It happened that we were on a summer break. I was looking forward to spending time with my family as I was feeling home sick. Nothing else mattered. I joined a new boarding school and was having trouble making friends. Things like that probably take time, maybe in time, the students there would warm up to me.

But for now, I am happy to be back home, In the warm comfort of my parent's embrace, with my family.

"We're going to the beach tomorrow", my dad announced after dinner. My brother and I jumped up in excitement. Going to the beach with our parents is one of our favorite outdoor activities.

At the beach, my dad and mum laid on the sand and sun-bathed while my brother and I played beach ball. Later, I was feeling tired and went to lay down next to some sand castles. "How I wished I would not have to leave this place. I want to stay here and play all day long", I thought to myself.

"Surely, you don't mean that right? You need to go to school. You'll make new friends and have a lot of fun" it said to me.

Without turning to see who was speaking, I replied "But I like the beach and I like to spend time with my family too. I don't wanna go back to school".

"Well my dear, going to school is also fun. Just give it time and you'll see that I'm right".

"Oh well, I think I'll give it a go then", I said still basking in the sun. Then I felt someone tugging at my arm and shouting wake up.

I stirred and sat up. My eyes fell on my brother's face. "What is it?" I asked. Mum asked me to come wake you up so you could have lunch. You've been sleeping for a while"*, my brother replied.

"'Really? But I was just here talking to..."*

I turned but saw no one around me except my brother. So who was I talking to then?

My brother just shook his head and walked back to my parents side, while I pondered om what happened. Then it clicked. "I must have been dreaming and talking to the sandcastles", I thought and that made sense.

I got up and went to join my family. No need talking about it because they won't believe me.

At times our imagination can play pranks on us. What you were thinking manifested in your dreams. Thank you for sharing.
