A Short Trip To Festival Mall, Festac || Dreemport Challenge Week 1

For many of us who are very active on dreemport, we all know that every month on dreemport we are tasked with different activities that not only take us out of our comfort zone but also helps us gain more experience as we navigate through our daily lives.

This month collaboration on dreemport is with the Worldmapping community where we get to travel to places and help other Hivers see the world through our eyes.

For this week's challenge, I will be sharing my experience on the place I visited last week. Seeing this week's challenge, It was a good thing I took few pictures, maybe if I had seen the post before going I would have taken more 😃😃😃 but the few pictures I took, I will love to share them all the same.

I reside around Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria and I went on a visit to the Festival Mall located at Festac which is about 55km from my home. It's actually my first time going there. I just wanted to go out to have a little "me" time and get away from my thoughts.

My Journey

From Badagry, I took a bus to Mile 2 and stopped at Festac Town and afterwards I took a cab down to the Mall which was located around Diamond Estate, Festac.

The journey took about 2 hours which was surprising considering the fact that traffic is something we usually encounter on our roads when going on a journey.

When I got to the Mall, I went straight to the Shoprite section where there are lots of food items on display. Of course food first before any form of sight seeing.

I walked all around taking in the beautiful things on display. I bought few things from the Shoprite as I took a walk all around. I was there when it started raining or should I say it was more of a drizzle.

Going around from one section to another was fun as I was focused on the different things around me.

I wanted to take more pictures but I remembered that I forgot to take my power bank along with me which is very unlike me. So I was trying so hard to conserve my battery power.

I saw the Genesis Cinema at the Mall and I took a mental note as that would be the next stop whenever I visit the mall again. I spent about three hours at the mall before I decided to go back home.

As I journey back home, I promised myself I would be making that trip again in the nearest future.

One thing I learned is that while I opted to go for a "me" time, the journey would be more enjoyable if I had gone with a companion (family or friend).

I actually thought my journey will be devoid of traffic but it seems I was going to have my fair share as well. Though the traffic was a bit fair but It took longer hours to get back home.

I got back home knowing that I had a fun time out. I can't wait to try that out again preferably in the company of friends.

Thank you all for reading.

Traffic in Lagos can be unpredictable. Free when going, and jammed when returning is like the normal thing here 😊.
You had a marvelous 'me' time shopping at Shoprite. Please don't look far for a companion for your next visit. I am available, biko.

Going on a journey like this is always fun with someone with you than being alone because one thing is sure, you wouldn't be able to cover as many as when with someone. But still, I hope you enjoyed yourself.
